search for by partial address? - Gracioso - Feb 13, 2021 If I have an old BTC address, but don't have the 'complete' address, is there a way to search blockchain for it to find the valid address? It's missing the last 8 characters, I think. I figure finding the BTC address SHOULD be easier than finding a private key and don't want to start trying to find that unless i know this has a balance. Anybody know? thanks, RE: search for by partial address? - Maskin - Feb 13, 2021 (Feb 13, 2021 04:55 AM)Gracioso Wrote: If I have an old BTC address, but don't have the 'complete' address, is there a way to search blockchain for it to find the valid address? But how are you going to know the adress is your old adress if you do find it? Transactions? What will you do with the adress if you do find it? Maybe you put the adress as a withdrawal adress on a website at some point? Check faucets, gambling sites, mining sites, etc.. RE: search for by partial address? - zerklou - Feb 13, 2021 there is a post in bitcointalk with list of all btc addresses ever used (16 Gb) u can download it and try to search in. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5265993.0 as it's txt file u can search by partial address... RE: search for by partial address? - Orchid - Feb 13, 2021 Maybe search for it in your email? All I got. RE: search for by partial address? - th3c0rrupt3d0n3 - Feb 13, 2021 In theory, you could make a list of all BTC addresses used in the history of the chain and then simply find the address with regex. Shouldn't be a difficult task for an experienced programmer. RE: search for by partial address? - Killer. - Feb 13, 2021 If the address has ever received any inputs (or transactions) then you can easily find the address using first bits. Just put the initial characters in https://smartbit.com.au and you'll be able to find the full address. If the address has received no inputs (address has zero balance) then I don't think there's a way to find the full address.
