Are you a minimalist? - severos - Feb 21, 2021 After viewing my budget from last year and how little space I have in my room, I started getting into minimalism. Starting by tracking all my expenses and only going for necessities (occasional fun stuff to keep my mental health) which cut my expenses a lot... Also, cleaning up my room I realize how many things I have that I haven't used since ever, things that take space but aren't really useful, etc. Now I'm wondering if anyone else tries to be a minimalist? what was your experience? did it improve your life? Personally I still can't say I'm a minimalist, just trying to head there and see how it goes. RE: Are you a minimalist? - Artisan - Feb 21, 2021 I am. My only big expenses are food, ciggies and coffee. By food I mean groceries and not ordering out. RE: Are you a minimalist? - Deany - Feb 21, 2021 Pft... Wow, sounds like you have your couple years plan ready. RE: Are you a minimalist? - Maxie - Feb 21, 2021 I own quite a lot of "expensive" stuff - but I only own everyday stuff, but a bit more luxury. I try to not own stuff that is not needed, but if I'm going to own something it might as well be good. For example a cordless dyson, a few philips hue lights and so on. So I'm probably not a minimalist in that sense, but I do not own a lot of stuff which I don't need. I think minimalism would accept such thing, it's not about owning cheap stuff, more of "if you don't use it then lose it" at least far as my understanding is. Also, getting a good expensive thing can be better since you'll replace less often RE: Are you a minimalist? - Donald Trump Jr. - Feb 21, 2021 Im trying to get into minimalism, the ability to be able to take all your belongings in a single backpack and go and do whatever you want without missing anything important just sounds so freeing. RE: Are you a minimalist? - Lyralei - Feb 21, 2021 I'm a minimalist I would say, but not a true minimalist, I still want stuff for convenience's sake, a true minimalist would barely have anything. For a week trip I can fit all in a backpack. Starting to consider deposit boxes for long term storage. RE: Are you a minimalist? - jecoylecoy - Feb 21, 2021 I don't know if I am, all I know is buy only what I need and I save for the things I can't afford. π€ RE: Are you a minimalist? - Lyralei - Feb 21, 2021 (Feb 21, 2021 03:04 AM)severos Wrote: I don't think you can have enough clothes for the whole year in a backpack, but other than that I can fit my belongings in 2 suitcases and a backpack I think, so it's possible to carry all by myself. For a week trip I can fit all in a backpack. I've watched people argue about false minimalism, that having less clutter but more expensive things = minimalism, then there's minimalism which I've seen from having a tiny house, which means you can actually live without having too many things without destroying convenience, and then there's the true minimalist(in my opinion), a true ascetic, just carrying bags and traveling all over the place, which I'm not, I'm more of in the middle of these 3 categories I've just mentioned. But honestly, minimalism can also just be self-interpreted, so it's really whatever. |
