New CPU/MOBO - YouTube Freezing/Sound Causes Lag? - znc - Mar 21, 2021

Just installed a new CPU and motherboard. I went from an i7 5820k and ASUS Rampage V extreme to a 5800x.

I just finished setting everything up. When I go to YouTube, my videos freeze instantly/have no sound and will eventually go to the next frame but super slow. The video is still loading and shows the grey line at the bottom indicating how much playback has been loaded, but it just will not play.

I've tried updating my graphics drivers.

Any ideas?

Also, any other recommendations as to what I should do after installing a new mobo/CPU? I haven't really done much after booting up, but everything else seems to be working fine.

Edit: Another thing I'm now noticing is my whole computer lags when I try to change my volume and I don't hear the noise that Windows makes when volume is adjusted. And I noticed my speakers are now called Realtek Audio instead of my speakers like they used to be.

If you just took the same hard drive and plunked it in to the new motherboard without reinstalling windows, you have a whole bunch of chipset related things that need to be fixed, whether manually or by Windows Updates.

Any idea on where I can find a tutorial on fixing those errors manually? A fresh install would really be hard to do for me, as I have tons of stuff on this PC that I need.

Also, I fixed the sound/YouTube bug by uninstalling sound drivers and reinstalling them from the Realtek website.
