2x RTX 3090 rig? - PoLoW - May 18, 2021
I know most of you here prefer trading crypto, unlike me i like mining crypto so i decided to go with a rig consist of 2x Rtx 3090 Zotac version and i hope to reach ROI in the next 8 months.
Free electricity
$2900 each 3090
Bought heat sink to eliminate vram overheating hopefully.
Advice an old Hackforums member please
I am spending half of my money into this so i hope i can make it even within the next 8 months or less.

Ethereum hopefully and hold my coins since the new protocol will be released soon and the mining fee will decrease.

Did you already purchase the gpus already?
EIP1559 is set to launch on July 14th along with the London Upgrade.

Why would you invest this much money in a mining rig while
1) prices are falling and potentially entering a bear market
and
2) eth is moving to PoS sometime in the next year hopefully, and mining it will be obsolete

1 I believe in crypto especially Ethereum
2 II've been waiting for PoS for years now and i think ETC will take a place instead of Eth.
I might be wrong that's why creating a thread to talk about it.

Lmao, what is this 2017? there are already better coins to mine with GPU than ETC that won't get 51% attacked haha.
There have been many factors you haven't taken into account honestly. You did not take into account EIP-3554

So you're saying i am too late to the party? I am positive when it comes to mining since Crypto blocks were first created by miners.

$2900*2 = 5800 + ~500 for motherboard and other pc parts = $6300
Electricity = Free as you mentioned(make sure it remains free as landlord won't be paying your bill if you run business out of it)
Overall ~6300
Estimated earning on current price = $36/day for ETH
Break-even in 6 months if ETH price stay ~$3000
Risk:
Possibility of card getting burn: High(no warranty after bios mod which you probably need to do)
Possibility of price going up/down: High
Your house will be a heat zone unless you setup really good cooling setup which gets expensive
After ETH switch to POS, other coin will not give you same return: High
Staking:
Initial stake amount: $6300
Return per year: ~5% on BlockFi(Would be more if you look for DEX like Waves)
Daily earning: $1 Compounding as now that $1 will be stake too.
Risk:
BlockFi gets hacked/scam you: Low as you can use DEX and avoid this risk
I have been into Mining. I got in when ETH was ~$1400, and then it went down to $200. My daily profit turned from $20 to $0.5. I shut that down and sold my cards at a loss. Luckily, I kept my ETH and due to price action, I came in profit but I wouldn't consider that as mining profit since I could have bought ETH directly and avoid paying all the other cost. I would pick staking over mining any day as that's the future.
