Fake ICOs is it possible to recover funds? - dominima_xtc51 - May 22, 2021 Hi guys, sorry if it's a wrong topic or if I offended anyone with this kind of question, I just don't know where else to turn with my problem. I recently found out my brother got scammed on the fake chinese ICO and lost almost 90% of the family savings. Yeah, it sucks. He's autistic so obviously he didn't see anything wrong with it. Long story short he got involved with a chinese woman on [BRAND NAME REMOVED], they talked and talked and she recommended an investment, an ICO on some coin that was supposed to be issued by the company she works for. Simple stuff. He doesn't know anything about crypto except for the "fact" that people can get rich quickly, so he fell for it. 3 months later the woman dissapeared, it was impossible to withdraw the funds and the fake exchange was down a few days later. I did a little investigation about all this and I got some data. I found out it's a huge chinese operation with multiple fake ICOs and exchanges, they use hong kong numbers, probably burners and also VPN but I know they're from China. I tracked their wallets on omni blockchain and if my calculations are right they scammed people for over 2 milion dollars only in the first quater of this year. They have a lot of small wallets and then transfer all the money to one big account on huobi. I contacted huobi about it - they're useless, so is the police. What I got: -their wallet addresses and transaction history -phone numbers - I could try to get in touch with this person and get involved somehow -some info about the website's location etc (scamdoc.com/whois) Do you think it's possible to recover any of it? I know they still do it so if it would be possible to get to even one of their wallet or trick them somehow so they can reveal something. It's very primitive scam in my opinion, I don't think they have a high level of security. I know it's a lot to ask and as you already figured I can't really afford smart people's service right now as my money is in their account probably spent by now. However if recovered I can offer big percentage, my brother lost 20 000$ in this, I'd like to get any sum, even a few thousand would be great. I'm more for a justice than lost money. Thank you for reading this. RE: Fake ICOs is it possible to recover funds? - haunterr - May 22, 2021 Not possible to recover anything. EDIT: Also to make matters clear, money that goes into Huobi (or any other exchange) can then be forwarded internally and afterwards externally to some other wallets so unless you have the full international cooperation of a LOT of organizations, it won't happen. That's what I thought, it was worth a shot anyway. Thank you for a quick answer. RE: Fake ICOs is it possible to recover funds? - Cooldudex - May 22, 2021 The ol "asking for a friend/brother" eh? RE: Fake ICOs is it possible to recover funds? - Omniscient - May 22, 2021 Chance you'll get back anything is almost zero. Even if you can get a government law enforcement agency involved the best they normally do is arrest people. That doesn't really help with fund recovery. That can take years because assets are seized, proof of loss has to be shown, and then it all gets divided by victims whatever the government doesn't take for itself. And then your own lawyer fees. I think you get the picture. Your autistic brother should never have had access to the family funds. That doesn't make any sense. OP's story is why China is cracking down on crypto right now. RE: Fake ICOs is it possible to recover funds? - shreder - May 22, 2021 It may be possible if you rallied up the Chinese government, but otherwise SOL. The Chinese women or hot women on [BRAND NAME REMOVED] trick are actually quite a common scam, they sometimes ask you for money to fly over to your state to see you. Which obviously the guy behind the computer takes the money and runs. RE: Fake ICOs is it possible to recover funds? - T0Bi - May 22, 2021 Apart from what everyone else already said, how can it be that your autistic brother has access to 90% of the family savings? OP might be the autistic brother RE: Fake ICOs is it possible to recover funds? - Porn - May 22, 2021 Trying to recover funds from a fake chinese ICO is like trying to recover funds from an indian scam call center, also I think this is a good lesson don't let someone with a serious mental disorder have access to 90% of the family savings it's not his fault he's literally autistic. RE: Fake ICOs is it possible to recover funds? - Sixen+ - May 22, 2021 Sorry this happened, but that money is long gone and will never be seen again.
