Norwegian police targeting Monero & Dash - Changement - May 27, 2021 I dont know if this is the right place to post it but it would be nice to hear what people have to say about this. I read this on the news today that they gonna target Monero & Dash to try to break the code. The reason for this is that in 2020 a norwegian billionares wife got kidnapped and has been gone for over 1 year now. And the kidnappers got ransom money in a form of Monero & Dash apperantly. The billionare himself has been a suspect and arrested but then released but as i understand is kind of a suspect still. The reason for that is that they think he has staged the whole thing. Im not so informed about this case the only thing that caught my eye was the part that they gonna try to break it. I have no more info about this than i just read it on the news here in Sweden. Is that even possible? I mean if they crack it what is gonna happend to the crypto scene? RE: Norwegian police targeting Monero & Dash - noname12345 - May 27, 2021 The irs has put a bounty for over 600k if you can crack monero so I don’t think it’s that easy to crack. Maybe not possible to crack. RE: Norwegian police targeting Monero & Dash - Cooldudex - May 27, 2021 Lol people have had massive bounties on trying to crack Monero since it's inception RE: Norwegian police targeting Monero & Dash - A Nobody - May 28, 2021 Honestly the more people try to break it the more credence it lends to the coin. There are some truly skilled people out there and some exorbitant bounties on cracking Monero which nobody has been able to claim. I'm not sure I'd expect the Norwegians to be the ones to crack it, so they may be wasting their time. RE: Norwegian police targeting Monero & Dash - Lilith - May 28, 2021 Monero is thee coin for people who want to stay anonymous for a reason. This isn't new; government agencies around the world have been trying to do this from the day it came out. No matter how free and liberal the government is, they have a vested interest in two things: 1. Controlling the value and flow of currency. 2. Knowledge of exactly who holds exactly how much of said currency. While most cryptocurrencies in some form or another deny governments #1, which is already a major issue as seen with China, India, South Korea, and so on, Monero is the single currency that has the mainstream adoption and security track record that succeeds with #2. Monero is not traceable that was the sole reason for its existence.
