Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - Cool - Jun 9, 2021 This happened to me less than a week ago, I spilled a BIG cup of hot coffee on my laptop, I freaked out and was saying "ohsh!t ohsh!t ohsh!t ohsh!t" my gf was watching so she helped me disconnecting it from everything and turn it upside down while I pressed the power button to force shutdown, I was sooo mad, so much stuff I've been working on lately, I had all the adobe files in this laptop and had no backup, so if the hot coffee reached the hdd it was gonna be a sh1tshow. I took it to my cousins and he helped me opening it up and cleaning with isopropyl alcohol but we could not reach the keyboard insides because we needed a welder to disassemble some parts but the motherboard looked dry for the most part only 2 big drops of coffee with a bit of cream was on one corner and we cleaned it up. I waited for 2 days to let it fully dry, and after the 48 hours I turned it on and everything was perfect except for the sticky keys but that was no problem I had all my files back <3 (luckily I have my secret phrase on a notebook always so at least I'm not loosing my crypto for something like this and I suggest you to do the same). Has this happened to some of you guys? I was so mad at the time but now it's just another funny story with a happy ending. RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - Lilith - Jun 9, 2021 In recent history, just a keyboard. About 12 years ago, spilled soda on my laptop. Literal sticky keys until I replaced it because I had no idea how to properly clean it without breaking something. RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - Orgy - Jun 9, 2021 you...needed a welder...to access the insides of your keyboard? w h a t? RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - bk randy - Jun 9, 2021 Bro, like less than a year after I paid like $800+ for the new Xbox One S I had a BIG cup of water on it and spilled it all right into all the air slots on the top where the fan sits and it broke, so I just let it sit for a few months and forgot it was broke and I turned it on and started playing and it hit me that it was working lol, I was on a lot of drugs when it happened to when it started working so the shit was kinda extra mind blowing. I guess it dried out enough and didn't fry the wires / board since I kept it off the whole time to dry lol I actually have another Ps4 that someone got drunk and pissed on that I think still works too lmfao, that ones my bro's.. RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - 618C - Jun 10, 2021 no not me, but a friend of mine had an nice highend alienware laptop few years ago.. a huge glass of cola tipped and felt on it, laptop was ruined since that day keyboard never worked again and issues became popping up with heating n stuff. tldr; no cola on hardware. RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - Psilocybinaut - Jun 10, 2021 I’ve dropped my phone in the toilet and even rinsed it off under the water faucet. Most newer tech is water proof. Previous from that, I have never spilled anything on my phone thankfully. Also probably only ever spilled one molecule of water onto my keyboard kek RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - Joy™ - Jun 10, 2021 That sucks but it's good you recovered everything. Around ~5 years ago I accidentally poured a whole styrofoam cup of Mtn Dew down the vent of my Xbox One. It was like a week after I got it, but luckily I sent it back and they sent me another one for free. My heart dropped down to my balls in the moment though lol. RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - Zero - Jun 10, 2021 Not long ago I dropped my phone in the toilet. Had to flush it to end it's misery. It was saved with rice hahahaha RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - swshsec - Jun 10, 2021 not in the last couple months... it's a start RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - The - Jun 10, 2021 I once spilled egg yolk right on my keyboard laptop and watched it all drain into the cracks between the keys. That day was not fun. RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - Avelt - Jun 10, 2021 spilling coffee or any beverage is fine as long as you don't do naughty stuff RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅5̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] - Jun 10, 2021 Yes, to both. That is why I enact accident protection on all of my devices now. It's just... needed! Lol RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - Aeowulf - Jun 10, 2021 Hah, oh yes. Spilled a Red Bull all over my work laptop once. Sticky keys for the remainder time until I quit. I feel bad for whoever got the laptop next. always seem to be spilling on my keyboards, but they're easy to clean and cheap to replace, so not as big of a deal. RE: Have you spilled a beverage on your computer/phone? - rSM- - Jun 10, 2021 Spilled a whole jug of gatorade on my laptop once during film in football during highschool. Thank god it was a shitty little chromebook that they provided, but the school almost made me pay $300 for it during the summer but decided against it because they were getting new shipments in for the next year. |
