Post Reply Subject Not Long Enough - Carl Elias - Jun 26, 2021 So I was responding to an older thread today and got an error saying that the subject was too short. The thread was https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=4314892&pid=60841119. When hitting the quote button on any post, but the first post, the subject in the reply is replaced with "RE: " instead of the title. Not sure if this is a bug or if it is due to it being an older post. I have seen this RE: in other places on the forum as well (like my posts from years ago when looking at my profile, and I think on one of the upgraded users pages) Just curious to know if this is a bug or just because of it being such an old thread. RE: Post Reply Subject Not Long Enough - Exalted - Jun 27, 2021 That is happening because the posts you're quoting are missing the post subject. Hence they are showing the 'RE: *'. '*' is the default post subject when one doesn't exist. I change the post subject to 'RE: {Insert Thread Title}' when I happen to come across this. RE: Post Reply Subject Not Long Enough - Omniscient - Jun 27, 2021 That's kind of a bug. I used to have the post subject removed. I'll review the code and make a decision. Not sure how many people actually edit the post subject when making replies anyways, but I guess it is useful. Its not a big deal unless you are getting search results for older post or making a reply on post in older threads, just wanted to see if it was a known bug. I'll close this since you answered my question. Thank! |
