adding a section of "community alerts" in each profile's stats - Snax - Jul 19, 2021

hi everyone!
I noticed that some members here have some positive b-ratings with no open disputes which makes them reputable enough to deal with,
but when I searched their usernames/UID, I found "community alert" threads about them.

my suggestion is to add a section in each hf profile showing the number of CA threads made about them so that new hf members or the lazy ones (who don't wanna search the member for any possible CA threads) will know if they need to deal with caution with that member or not.
however, using a mm is always recommended even when dealing with reputable sellers and especially when the amount of payment is reasonably big. but unfortunately, some of us aren't patient enough to make a deal through a mm, so we prefer to risk it.

anyhow, my suggestion should also reduce the number of deal disputes given that some members will avoid dealing with others who got CA threads. as for how this feature will work technically, when there's an old or new CA thread made in "marketplace discussions" section about a certain member with the mention of his UID in the title (usernames may not work due to impersonator threads), the number of CA of the member in question will automatically update.

now, do you think it's a good idea that can be implemented?

no for obvious reasons .

We have a contract system so that members can record deals and leave feedback. Community alerts are not to be used to accuse members of scamming. That is what a contract dispute is for.

Imagine someone you never met makes a community alert against you. They make something up. Fabricate evidence. But there is no contract. Do you want that label on your profile now that someone forged a community alert against you? Probably not.

The point is, contracts and b-ratings are our system for members to leave feedback when dealing with each other. It’s what matters.

As always, HF does not get involved in deals.

if that happens, clicking on the number of CA threads of a certain member will show the threads so that we can decide whether the seller can be trusted or not. but yeah, having enough b-ratings can be taken into account when we make deals.
