Loving this lockpicking hobby - Doc - Oct 12, 2021 Recently I got a new lockpicking set that was actually made from decent materials (my first and only other set was made from cheap materials so the picks and tensioners were really flimsy and hard to pick with), check it out: ![]() Soon I'm gonna pick up these Covert Companion turning tool tensioners, I'm excited to have some top-keyhole tensioners to let me pick without having the tensioner take up a lot of the lock space: ![]() After practicing on a master padlock, a deadbolt lock and a few transparent practice locks I've gotten I finally took a crack at my backdoor the other day and was able to successfully pick the knob lock and dead bolt in just a few minutes, felt pretty great when I opened them up š Anyone else on here into lockpicking? I'm developing a bit of an obsession with it myself edit: changed the second picture, at first it was of the covert companion picking tool itself RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - Sigma - Oct 12, 2021 I used to have that hobby for a long time. Tough to master. RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - skull - Oct 12, 2021 I have wanted to get into this for years, just never really got the time for it. I did actually buy a lockpicking set, but so far I only used it when I lost my mailbox key, and that lock is fairly simple. RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - Demize - Oct 12, 2021 Interesting I might have to look into this, looks like a fun hobby RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - Dog. - Oct 12, 2021 One of my friends got into lockpicking over the past couple of years. Thought it was just a cool hobby but then he started picking locks that we forgot to bring the key for which was a lifesaver sometimes. Got us into this dusty cabin in a park as well which was great. RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - shakur123 - Oct 12, 2021 Looks cool bro, i never had any experience with lockpicking but it sure sounds dope RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - Doc - Oct 12, 2021 (Oct 12, 2021 07:42 AM)FocusĀ Broken Wrote: Nice.Ā Is there a risk of you breaking or jamming the lock? The general rule is to not practice on a lock that's already in use. That said, I've gotten experienced enough to where I'm not just blindly fiddling around with a lock anymore, so I'm not real worried about any of that happening. When you're first starting out it's best to practice on the practice see-through locks that come with a lot of beginner kits so you can actually see what's going on when you're picking a lock. RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - Koyote - Oct 12, 2021 I got into it myself through locking myself out of my university house so many times lol, and since I've been able to help loads of friends who've either got locked out or lost keys to their sheds etc. Quite fun to do, but also very difficult at times. The worst is in the cold, trying to get into a shed that's icy and wet, while your friend just stands there and watches you the whole time lol. RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - grainy - Oct 12, 2021 u can break into my house any time now RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - Doc - Oct 12, 2021 (Oct 12, 2021 07:58 AM)FocusĀ Broken Wrote: Cool.Ā Given what you've learned so far, do you think there is a way to design an "unpickable" lock? If you asked me a few days ago, I might've said yes, but now, after watching professional lockpickers effortlessly break into some of the most securely designed locks available, I don't think it's feasible to go for "unpickable". The fact of the matter is the vast majority of criminals aren't very persistent, they are just looking for the easiest opportunity, so in all honesty a regular master padlock (which, these are VERY easy to pick, I picked my first one the other day within seconds of trying) will be enough to deter the vast majority of people looking to break into or steal something. Most thieves may try to pick up lockpicking, but ultimately I expect there are very few that actually become proficient with it. RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - Prettykitty - Oct 12, 2021 I wanted to get into lock picking a long time ago, never got the tools or learned in the end though. It still sounds awesome. I remember watching a lot of videos on how to pick different locks. RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - wiz - Oct 12, 2021 Heyyyy are you thepickinglawyer! RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - Proof - Oct 12, 2021 So I bought a set, played around with the clear lock, picked a few-- ended up returning it. Couldn't manage to pick cuffs though. RE: Loving this lockpicking hobby - device - Oct 12, 2021 That's a very cool hobby. I remember seeing a guy on YouTube opening bank vaults with his bare hands, the guy could feel the mechanism and unlock the door. |
