Advice - My car is being held for ransom - phunted - Jan 8, 2022

I've just been kicked out of a property due to not meeting rent for the week, the property owner has advised me that I have three days to leave and the rent will not have to be paid because im getting kicked out.

I have a car that's still at the property that im wanting to get towed to my new property however he has blocked the car in so theres no possible way of getting to it. He's refusing to give my car back unless the rent is paid however again the manager said I do not need to pay.

I should mention that the house mate i was living with is my family (1st cousin) He's known for being an absolute cunt and the king of petty.

I want to get my car back and I also want to make his life living fucking hell.
What advice do you guys have?

You can tell whatever authorities that he's holding your car. You can tell the council or your can tell police. You can bring the letter from the manager saying that you don't have to pay rent. There is a reddit sub called r/prettyrevenge if you really want to go that route.

Police have already been contacted. They've given me the typical "we can't do anything about it"
He's aware of the letter/confirmation from the property owner and still doesn't care hence the reason for going down such a shitty route.

I don't like to do this but i feel at this point in time its completely necessary.

What route are you intending to go down? Can you try a different police station? Talking to different police has worked for me sometimes when they've done that assholery to me on issues. Can you talk to the local council sometimes they will got talk to people doing things to make the neighbourhood unpleasant and I meant showing the letter to authorities if he starts saying "but he hasn't paid the rent."

Whst country? Doesn’t seem legal for him to hold your car, what’s blocking it?
Get car first then worry about revenge

Yeah it's NOT legal and the police are full of it saying "there's nothing we can do" because it's THEFT of a vehicle. What was their reasoning about "there's nothing we can do"?

The car is currently unregistered.

lol FBI even the local police won't help because he didn't register his car so there's not current record that it's even his I guess.

Miscommunication. The car has been registered for 35 years. It's currently not registered.
We register our cars every 6, 1, 3 or 5 years at a time.

In the US this is a civil matter. It’s not theft of a vehicle. This incident is occurring on private property which means the police can’t tow it.

Lol no

Here in Australia its the exact same, civil and no chance of it being towed by authorities.

My advise would be to contact an attorney.

sounds like extortion sir

just register ur vehicle? only 1.4k/year or pay for 3 months.

RE: Advice - My car is being held for ransom - jmark7 - Jan 9, 2022

Why cant you just register your car and then file a case of car theft. in this way you will get you revenge and also your Car.
Dont forget to get the letter from manager of no requirement to pay rent.
