Am i the only one who never eats the first slice of bread in the loaf.Its just so unattractive. its covered in crust, oddly shaped and tastes the worst,i feel bad for it

I never used to like it as a kid, but I enjoy it as an adult now because I feel like it's the most structurally integral part. It's kept the loaf whole, kept it fresher to a degree, taken the brunt of the movement and still held up. When you use as part of a really thick and meaty sandwich, like loads of ham and mustard and whatever, it's way more satisfying because the bites are bigger and chewier. Try it, you'll never look back!

I think I liked it once.
But for stereo typing that part of the loaf.
I almost always skip that part.

my grandfather would always make a sandwich with the "butts" of bread, he was a great depression child so nothing was thrown out.
