OSRS Botting | Ban Avoidance Repository | Go-to Ban Avoidance Thread - Mango™ - Jan 29, 2022

I am making this thread in hopes to create a donation based repository of all your ban avoidance information. This includes PDF's, comments, pictures of ban reports, etc. Hopefully, in due time, this thread will have a decent amount of information on how to avoid being banned while botting on OSRS.

Comment or message/PM me with information you have relating to being banned or related to botting on OSRS to possibly help others.

Account Creation:

1.) Do not create multiple accounts on the same IP within a short amount of time. Especially, if you do not do it often while playing legitimately. This immediately triggers the ban system into flagging your IP and accounts created by this IP. If possible, create accounts months in the future and do tutorial island manually. Log in every once in a while and do something random to keep the routine of playing alive. For example, if it is seen that you create an account, do tutorial island, and then log off for 2 weeks just to come back and play for 16 hours a day - This will definitely get you banned.

More to come...

Have been banned many times during my bot farm over the last couple of years and the main thing comes down to the saturation of the action being botted and the timeframe. Having a bot run 10 hours a day with 0 breaks makes it obvious, having breaks random throughout your scripts but not having set times for these breaks. Quick 3 minute "pee breaks" are good to implement more bannable locations can be botted however should only be done Friday and Saturday since ban rates are usually lower then. Hope any of this info helps.

Breaks are definitely a big factor when it comes to botting. If you have routine breaks, that's bad. You don't pee every 12-38 minutes. It's just more casual looking to take a break every 1 hour 20 minutes +. Assuming you're not doing very click intensive tasks. Also, how often do you actually just go somewhere to log out after an hour and come back to continue exactly what you were doing. I usually hit the bank, log, then come back and re-gear. Just me though.

Anyone knows how the banrates on multiboxing would be? If using proxies of course

From what I hear, it's all about how you use them and which ones you use.

For example:

If you're running the same script on all of them, all at the same time; red flag.

If you're running different scripts, different times, etc. you should be ok. I know a few people that run about 10 boxes per day almost all day long and never get caught. I also know people who run them once and get caught. Just luck of the draw at some point.

Good thread. Maybe this will stop the dozens of conversations I get a day asking me how to bot successfully or to sell a guide 😆
JK I love all of you that ask.

Thanks man, I plan on adding a LOT more to this thread. Just been busy IRL buying a house lol.

Continue on this thread man, this is awesome. I’ve been tempted to play RuneScape but don’t have much time for it so I figure botting a nice account would still scratch the itch.

I look forward to seeing more.

OSMB #1
Sammich Scripts #2

For plugins, DeadZone for automated tasks, Skillbox for extreme helpers such as 1.5-3 ticking.

As someone who has written both a client with runtime scripting and a scriptable headless client, I can say there are really 3 factors to bans.

fom my expiriemce (,and fairly well proven to be the case)
1. catch a manual report and a jMod ends up personally reviewing your account. No way to beat this really unless u botted on a vpn/proxy and claim hijack (usually works)

2. not pairing clicks with actions sent will trigger botwatch when used for extended periods of time (usually not right away though)

3. Public scripts. Botwatch doesnt only build profiles based off of banned accounts history (mouserecorder data etc) but also looks for where it can match patterns to multiple accounts (eg widely used scripts) and builds profiles off of those for use in detection aswell via targeted heuristics.

So yes, having accounts on different proxies will help prevent chain bans. But the most important thing is to either just write them yourself, or at the very least not use scripts/bots that are public or ones that are sold and used by others.

One other thing to add, jagex uses an intex in the random.dat file to track accounts between proxies etc to match them to users. So always make sure and delete this file. My clients clear this among other things on startup.

Very helpful information, thank you. I'll break it down some and add it to the OP when I update it again.

Yeah nw, if youd like some deeper insites on the client whatt exactly they can use for detextion/finger printing, feel free to dm me

A little more I can add though to the specifics for finger printing.

Client internals (Using client deob from OpenOSRS for references):

1. Random.dat
The random.dat thing writes via request from server during login. The server packet handler for that is here:
github.com/open-osrs/runelite/blob/62f3ef09d2ef36e3329b405b0c3d29398dc4c870/runescape-client/src/main/java/Client.java#L6285

And it gets send to the server here, also during login handshake:
github.com/open-osrs/runelite/blob/62f3ef09d2ef36e3329b405b0c3d29398dc4c870/runescape-client/src/main/java/Client.java#L3407

You can either clear this on startup, or disable this through a mixin (or memory manipulation if working with the native client)

2. DesktopPlatformInfoProvider class
in the DesktopPlatformInfoProvider.java class you can see a bunch of environment info including:
your java version, os, os version, java provider, runtime max memory Runtime.getRuntime().maxMemory(), processors, and also splits up your java version into parts and sends those aswell for some reason

They dont really utilize this for fingerprinting in macro bans for chain banning tho. They only really resort to this for bug abuse ban cases.

You can see the client method that handles this here:
github.com/open-osrs/runelite/blob/62f3ef09d2ef36e3329b405b0c3d29398dc4c870/runescape-client/src/main/java/DesktopPlatformInfoProvider.java#L32

Any free ones? How much does it charge?

Do they have mining and woodcutting scripts, as well as combat stat grinding scripts?
