Serial Number Generator Challenge - yuumi - Mar 26, 2022

This is a reverse engineering I came up with since some people on this forum seem enjoy them and I enjoyed writing it.

The application asks for a name and a serial number. It then checks whether the serial number is valid for the name provided.

The serial numbers are not hard coded into the application, rather it runs through a set of algorithms to validate.

Each name provided can have multiple serial numbers, for example:

Those three are valid name/serial number combinations. So several factors go into generating a valid serial number, of course I can't tell you what those factors are, that's for you to figure out.

Your task:
Reverse engineer the binary to code your own serial number generator

For example your application can ask for a name and spit out a serial number. The name/serial number can then be entered into my application, if the serial number is correct we get a correct message otherwise we get an incorrect message.

bad name/serial

You can notice in the bad serial image, I changed the last character from a 9 to an 8 and it failed, rightfully so.

The name length is restricted to 8 bytes max , The serial string length is constant 32 bytes

Once you've solved it or developed your number generator, throw it in my application to see if it works.
Then post the name/serial combination and I will test it myself to see if it's valid or dm me your generator/image of the solution.

Good luck and have fun. And to make your tasks a bit easier, I did not use any encryption on the .text section.

Edit: 64 bit CRT Disabled
64bit Megaio link

You can run this in a VM if you'd like.
