The Iowa Department of Agriculture confirmed a case of avian influenza in the area where the chicken farm was located. The company decided to seal the area the chickens were in, then raise the temperature to 100+ degrees Fahrenheit. The chickens were slowly cooked alive while they flung themselves against the walls trying to find an exit. They eventually collapsed and died due to heat and suffocation. The company then laid off 200+ employees.

Rembrandt’s billionaire owner, Glen Taylor, needs to be imprisoned.

Like every mega-rich, they probably are going to get away with it.

I mean I guess they had to get rid of it before it infected other livestock but surely there are other methods?

Yeah, slowly roasting them at 100 degrees is probably one of the worst options they could have used.

I live near a lot of chicken farms and couldn't imagine the stench that would happen to the local neighborhoods when this happened... They already smell like death as is...

This, combined with the food distribution facility fires, is highly ominous.

Somebody is trying to create food scarcity for unknown reasons.

I wonder how long it will be before this avian flu jumps from birds to humans.

It wouldn't be the first time.

I'm gonna try to be objective.

First, the subjects says this is an egg-laying facility. So the place probably isn't designed for mass slaughter. Killing 5.3 million chickens efficiently might be a challenge. If indeed they are also sick chickens, you don't want to transport them, have people around them, or put them near other facilities which might house chicken-as-food processing.

Headline might upset you but do you really think they had much choice? Consider the scale of what 5.3 million chickens is.

We also don't know if they got the approval of government regulators for the slaughter.

It's shit all around. It's pretty insane to imagine what 5.3 million chickens look like. Animals in factory farms have shitty living conditions and are, what I'm guessing, to be the source of the disease.

The method used is quick and effective but also one of the cruelest ways.

I don't think they should've had so many, to begin with, in limited space.

It must have been hell for the workers to clean all that mess.

Probably fairly easy to clean it up. Chickens died whole for the most part, maybe even in cages.

Not sure why people want to imagine the worst. Was it really that bad? Chickens get killed 140m per day globally. They are food. They get bred, fed, and slaughtered by the billions every year.

You do realise even on a farm of 100 chickens if avian flu is detected quite literally every single chicken has to be killed. You have no clue.

I am waiting to hear news of more highly suspicious food factory fires.

I wonder how many more will have to burn down before the general public finally starts to take notice and ask some very hard questions.

Our food supply in America is under deliberate attack by unknown forces.

I have seen a few documentaries regarding this and in most cases it's another farmer (or entity or group of people) that poison the livestock of such affected farmers in order to raise the prices temporarely due to them having to restart the process (or running them out of business completely)

RE: Egg-laying facility in Iowa kills 5.3 million chickens - bevc - May 4, 2022

This was an egg-laying facility, so all the chickens were female - the chicks that are born male are already killed in fairly brutal ways (I think they usually crush them to death).
