What would you do if you won the lottery for $1.5 billion? - Raymond Reddington - Jun 9, 2022

As per the Guinness Book of World Records, the largest lotto winner received $1.537b in the 2018 Mega Millions game in the US.

The Powerball is an American lottery game offered by 45 US states which has been an ongoing tradition since April 19, 1992. The largest prize pool so far on the Powerball has been the $1.586 billion jackpot in 2016, split among three winners in California, Tennessee and Florida.

Similarly, the EuroMillions is a transnational lottery game active in the countries of United Kingdom, France, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Switzerland, which has been ongoing since February 7, 2004. The largest prize pool offered so far has been a £184 million prize

If you don't recognize these two lotteries, there might be regional equivalents at your country for it; such as the Mega Millions (US), the SuperEnalotto (Italy), or Lotto 6aus49 (Germany) that have had similar prize ranges. The essence of the question is, what would you do?

Basically, what would your next move be if you've suddenly found out that you won the lotto? What would you pay off, purchase, invest, save or donate accordingly? What would you buy for your loved ones, would you quit your job, would you go for a vacation?

The possibilities are endless. Feel free to be creative.

If I won a massive lottery jackpot right now I'm not really sure what I would do. I think I would make sure to help my mother out first so she could retire instantly. I'm still young so I wouldn't need the whole amount. I might treat myself to a few nice things such as a new car etc.. Other than that I would probably save and invest the rest that I didn't use for purchasing my loved ones things they needed or to ensure they were set financially.

When this one was going on i was spending like $500 a day on tickets trying to be a lucky one.

I would of retired bought a few nice houses across the globe and travel investments of course.

If I won the euro millions, the first thing I would do would be smash every window in my house (because why not). Then, I would proceed to buy a 20million dollar penthouse and would deck it out with the most expensive stuff I can find.

Would be interesting to hear what others would do!

Hey as they say, "Lady luck favors the one who tries."

Wise choice. I'd have done the same; real estate is always good to have in one's portfolio because of its rising trend over the years.

Helping out your parents is very considerable as after all, they've taken care of us when we grew up.

Why smash all of the windows?

I'd love to hear more about your disgust towards every window in your house or for your love towards smashing them.

Pay off al mine and my companies debt. Then probably just wait for the housing bubble to burst and buy a house and stocks.

Maybe he has an innate hatred for glass. I'd also love to know why

A penthouse, that's a rather wise choice I'd say. I'm surprised nobody on this thread has mentioned buying jets or yachts yet.

There's going to be a generational opportunity coming up in the future to make profit within the real estate by taking advantage of the market correction. We'll have to wait and see when the said correction happens.

Yeah I'm aware. I've been saying it's coming for like 9 months. Might be a year or 2 or even 3 but it's coming.

Mhm, correct. It's just a matter of time, one can only make predictions at this stage.

Viewing the world right now and seeing how the politics is going (fucking leftist).
I would probably make my same self sustainable.
Buy a home somewhere far from society.
Buy an electric car, probably a Tesla.
Buy my own energy generator, solar, wind and hydro.
Build my own farm and grow my own vegetables.

Probably arm myself with a gun (I'm from EU, so I actually can't, legally speaking). But, since I got money now, those silly communist think I'm willing to forcefully give it to them.

I appreciate what Elon Musk is doing, but look how people are portraying him while he is out there not only creating jobs but trying to take care of our (humanity's) future.

When I was a kid. I always said I would help others if I had a lot of money, mind you I came from the bottom, my parents were refugees.
But, nah, fuck that.

Buy a nice car, a home, and a bunch of gold. I'd never keep all that money in the bank, half would be in gold.

Then I'd never work again. Probably pick up a hobby and donate a few million to some charity.

Self-sustenance seems like a very good option. Away from the commotion and air/noise pollution in urban areas, a private estate somewhere far would be an ideal place for a mind cleanse considering everything going on atm.

What you're saying reminds me of the time when UN told that Musk could "end world hunger" with a single donation.
