question about hosting my own home vps for remote vpn and vnc access - gladlaks - Jun 10, 2022
I want to create my own vps, virtual private server, to create my own vpn service. Dont want to pay for vps hosting service and let them store data.
I see videoes from 2016 by akcryptoguy on youtube called, "Be Your Own VPS", 5 video series, using "Hyper-V Server" form microsoft to create home vps server. For eksample converting an old computer. Would it then be possible to use this to host a vpn so I dont have to rely on third party servers storing my data? Would it be possible to connect to this with vpn connection at an airport for eksample, and would it be more secure? Could i use pfsense and connect to vpn using my own home vps instead of OpenVPN?
Also if i have a powerfull gaming computer at home, could I connect to this and run games on a less powerfull laptop connecting through vnc to this pc while connected to the vpn/vps? I have created a picture of my setup
