From what I know, there is no exploits in NGINX itself.
However the served platform or the NGINX authentication module might be vulnerable.
There is a recent issue with the NGINX LDAP implementation. However, from my understanding, that won’t give you root access.
So I recommend looking into the served application instead.

i have access to the panel of the only website in the server ( wordpress) , i dont want to upload a shell and risk being exposed before i figure out how to root the server .
i also want to know if there's anyway to mine cryptocurrencies from the shell.

have you looked into finding local-root exploit for the server ! there are up to date public local-root exploits
