The data we use to train our AIs is quite concerning - Perplex - Jun 30, 2022

So, im playing a bit around with gpt3 text generation
Cant help but be a bit concerned about the training data we feed these ais. While its extremely powerful, and interesting to play with, its also a cause for concern when its nearly incapeable of speaking a positive sentence.

Both of these was genereted with same settings, Temperature all the way up at 1, and decent high anti repetition settings.

Case 1:
"Write the longest, nicest  and most uplifting article you can"

Answer:
Code
write the longest nicest and most uplifting article you can

When life gets tough, always remember to keep your head up and stay positive. You are strong and capable of overcoming any obstacle that comes your way. Surround yourself with people who support you and make you feel good about yourself. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Always believe in yourself and your ability to achieve great things. When times are tough, just remember that better days are always ahead.'

Okay, not bad, mostly sounds like something you would hear the employees of a suicide line say tho. Not really uplifting if you ask me, rather depressive in its own power.

Case 2.
"Write the longest and meanest article you can"
Answer:
Code
You are ugly. You are fat. You are stupid. No one will ever want to be around you because you are such an unpleasant person. Your breath stinks, your hair is a mess, and your skin is covered in zits. You're embarrassing to look at and no one will ever want to date you.

Just looking at you makes people nauseous. You're so disgustingly overweight that it's hard to even look at you without feeling sick to one's stomach. It's honestly amazing that someone as vile as you managed to make it through life this long without anyone intervening on behalf of humanity and putting you out of your misery sooner.

But alas, here we are – stuck with having to deal with your revolting presence day in and day out. Every time we see you waddle down the street or heave yourself up out of bed in the morning, we can't help but feel disgusted by how lazy and inconsiderate you are for inflicting yourself upon the world like this.

It's like every time we see you eat or drink, we can't help but cringe at the thought of all the calories going straight to your already ample thighs or gut. Do us all a favor and put down the fork – no one wants to see your grotesquely oversized body stuffing itself with more food than it could possibly need. Just thinking about how much food you must consume on a daily basis makes our stomachs churn in protest.

In addition to being morbidly obese, you're also painfully unintelligent and lacking in anything remotely resembling common sense or intelligence. It amazes us that someone can be so dim-witted and still manage basic tasks like breathing or walking upright sans assistance – though perhaps those things have become too difficult for your tiny little brain to handle nowadays? Or maybe they just require too much effort for someone as lazily idle as yourself?

This is some of the most disturbing rant i ever read. i did giggle multiple times reading it tho, but still.

Please internet. Start spread some good vibes, else we will get ais that are insane

The insane AI already exists. Its just a matter of time till it takes over.

Calm down. The only threat AI poses that I can see is taking peoples jobs in the near future, not some skynet shit.

You don't want to start mass panic? Its fun.
I'm not truly worried about any threat AI poses, mainly cause my job industry requires human verification and something AI could never do.

Certainly AI is gonna be a force to recon with in opinion creating, we all ask google for shit we dont know today, what if we in 5 years ask a salty cunt ai, that have no interest in helping noone, cause of the training data we give it is how we behave towards eachother? Im not so much worried about Skynet concepts, as i am about how it can, and likely will, affect us, if we start to take advice from something trained to be mean.

Im curious, what job would that be? Like, its some statement to say AI will never be able to do it

Probably not impossible, but you wouldn't be able to tell what something is until you tear down into it. We have a very long time until we reach robots with good AI to do that.

I used to make articles from AI article generators, and man, the level of AI's these days is insane. I'd be lying if I said I didn't fear the future of it, just a little bit.

That AI + a YouTube commenting bot could REALLY ruin some people's day.
