Minecraft Migration to Microsoft - Omniscient - Sep 1, 2022 So Microsoft is sending out last chance notification forcing everyone to move their Majong account of Minecraft to a Microsoft one. Quote:Starting on 10 March 2022, a Microsoft account is required to continue playing Minecraft: Java Edition. You are receiving this email because our records show that your Mojang account has not been migrated and thus will no longer work to play Minecraft: Java Edition. Not that I play the game too much but the switch was a hassle. Instructions sucked. And I had the account "Omniscient" and somehow after the switch my account is "Omniscient6960". So I'm really fucked pissed off. Another thing that MS has just ruined. I do my best to not use any of their services. RE: Minecraft Migration to Microsoft - Cooligan - Sep 1, 2022 Yeah unfortunately Microsoft started to add "tags" at the end of each gamertag in an attempt to prevent people from stealing OG usernames and then selling them. It also put a stop to "duped" gamertags. Your original gamertag should still be Omniscient from what I understand, but while playing Minecraft I believe your name will be Omniscient6960. I just had to do this myself when making a new MC Java account, I linked my Microsoft account but it wouldn't let me use my actual gamertag so I put an extra letter at the end of it, I don't have any number tag at the end though. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how it works since you had the gamertag Omniscient long before Microsoft announced this change. Was around 2 years or so ago by now they started adding tags at the end of newly created accounts. Old accounts should be safe though. There is no Minecraft account with the username Omniscient6960. Looks like you still have the username Omniscient - https://namemc.com/profile/Omniscient.1 Yeah, fucking weird. Must be some internal fuckery. Also, have NEVER used their MS Store before and I never will. I do everything I can to disable all non-essentially Windows services related to Microsoft. This shit also happened to me. When I migrated my Minecraft Account, my Minecraft username was reversed to a previous username I owned few years ago. I was like WTF. RE: Minecraft Migration to Microsoft - Maskin - Sep 1, 2022 Yeah fuck minecraft/microsoft/mojang and their support. Lost 1st account because idk what email adress I used as a kid, so I couldn’t migrate the account (sure mostly my fault, the support couldn’t help me). Then I bought minecraft again but the microsoft version and didn’t know I couldnt play with my friends (java version). Told their support that they are stupid if they think I’ll buy the game a 3rd time. Unfortunately the only way to play cross-platform is on Bedrock, idk why they didn't migrate Java for the same thing. Bedrock is console specific though in terms of the UI and controller support, and vice versa for Java so it honestly might just be as simple as that. Huh, I always thought back in around 2019-2022 they made it so all new tags made after that date would have the numbers at the end, putting a stop to duped tags and and people trying to steal OG tags, which makes no sense seeing there'll always be the "OG" tag no matter if they add numbers to any new tags made that match them. I just remember it being huge news at the time especially in the OG market. Either way I think we all can agree here that Microsoft is absolute hot garbage and needs a complete overhaul. Minecraft support has never been helpful, the only times I ever heard about them helping somebody was for famous youtubers, it seems if you’re famous you get better support and privileges |
