Theme Alteration - Omniscient - Sep 2, 2022

https://hackforums.net/usercp.php?action=options

Change the HF theme to Mobale Red then do a CTRL+F5 refresh of the page. I have altered the logo and the background. It's a subtle change but I think I like it.

Please if you hate it, use it for an hour before commenting. Probably gonna be bothered more by the red than the background change.

I'm hoping to make this change to all the themes. Removing the background image imho presents a cleaner look. And the logo has some changes but it's technically a previous design by Novica

EDIT: IGNORE THE RED, DO NOT COMMENT ON THE RED!

RE: Theme Alteration - Biggy - Sep 2, 2022

I'm using it now. I really don't see what's to "hate" about it. The red is a bit overwhelming but isn't really a hinderence.

Maybe the red could use a bit less brightness so it doesn't stand out as much?

Otherwise, I like it.

That Red theme is just part of HF, it's never been the default. Just imagine the same changes under your own color choice. I actually rotate between the Green, Purple, and Blue. I like all 3 of them.

RE: Theme Alteration - Gary - Sep 2, 2022

I like it, the only thing that is kind of harsh on the eyes is the background clashing with the post background.

Like you said, I should use it for more than an hour.

RE: Theme Alteration - Blazin - Sep 2, 2022

The red will take a little to get use to on the eyes, but I do think I like it. Will try it out for a week.

RE: Theme Alteration - Lilith - Sep 2, 2022

It's a bit of a visual adjustment initially, but it's far less of a change than it was from the original theme. I'm sure the people who don't like change will decry it but within a few days, if even, most will get used to it.

EDIT: Maybe making the background color of the site darker grey, similar to that of the message box, would make for good contrast.

RE: Theme Alteration - Nas - Sep 2, 2022

Looks weird on mobile. Box elements have weird outlines.

RE: Theme Alteration - Bluffer - Sep 2, 2022

I dig it. I know in previous years it took a bit of time to get used to a new look but ultimately was always better.

RE: Theme Alteration - Edge - Sep 2, 2022

I like it tbh. I never really liked the BG that comes default. This looks way better.

RE: Theme Alteration - Trappy - Sep 2, 2022

The red will take getting used to but I like the theme alterations.

My only suggestion, theres a lot of empty space. This might just be because I have a huge monitor though, https://prnt.sc/h0CPt-p86IUk

Yeah it's just my big monitor. I went back and I see it's always been like this, just more noticeable when the postbit background is the same color as the empty space

RE: Theme Alteration - trojohn - Sep 3, 2022

The solid background makes the whole thing look very clean. Especially if you're someone who always has the top logo hidden.

In my opinion it would be perfect with a softer pastel red like below. It would clash less with the colorful, flashy ads too.

RE: Theme Alteration - Cyam - Sep 3, 2022

The background color is too bright for me personally.

Something like this would be easier on the eyes. For now I'm just using the default one with purple blocks

RE: Theme Alteration - Goku - Sep 3, 2022

Omni a cool alternative would be a gradient. Hopefully Novica can provide a transparent logo.

Use this CSS as an example:
background: linear-gradient(180deg, rgba(40,40,40,1) 0%, rgb(24 24 24) 100%);
background-attachment: fixed;

Or a radial gradient.

CSS:
background: radial-gradient(circle, rgba(40,40,40,1) 50%, rgba(24,24,24,1) 100%);
background-attachment: fixed;

a grey theme'd be nice :P

edit:
noticed a thin line in the screenshot, #logo has border-bottom: 1px solid #0c0c0c; which is creating this.

RE: Theme Alteration - Vibe - Sep 3, 2022

Red is better anyways good change
