As the title states - I think it did so much for driving activity on HF and keeping topics alive.
It also helped track down ban evaders.
But overall I think it will drive up activity.

I loved this feature whenever a juicy thread was posted in the marketplace. It was great to see how a thread exposing someone can bring almost the entire community to that thread.

Everyone on HF is spread out. You're not gonna see people really reading your thread. Also it was used by scammers a lot. I just don't see how it would increase activity anyways? Please explain that.

How about a link to "HF's currently most popular thread"?
And years ago on another MyBB forum I actually created a page that basically scrolled through the current site activity.

How about a count like 'how hot the thread is' - This thread has had "x unique visitors in the last x hours"
Well, in short - the way it increased activity at least for me was seeing other people reading threads encouraged me to partake, shoot i'd be reading threads for like 5 years ago and then see someone else reading it, i'd bump the shit out of it to keep the conversation going.

Something like this could work - definitely. Maybe for sitewide or section based. I'd fucking love this.
I mean, shit - remember the days when a staff member would be checking on a thread with 200+ replies and everyone would be like 'oooooh someones in trouble'
The spy page would mostly focus on posts and replies. I might add some of the gaming stuff too if I end up doing it.
And I am not going to highlight threads based on activity. HF was just more active in the past, please stop expecting it to return with some parlor trick.

I definitely enjoyed this feature for sure, it was always fun to check who was viewing a thread, especially in forums like the Lounge, RANF, SRPP, and the Marketplace Discussions section as a whole.
I remember seeing a buddy viewing one of my threads and making a post of something like "@username I see you, stop hiding and come talk dammit." or something like that. In terms of other activity, I suppose a trial run would be cool to see if it helped but I'm not sure if it would have the outcome you're expecting or at least referring to.
Overall it was a super cool novelty feature to have and I'd totally be down for a return of it if it were at all possible and practical.

I don't think it will return with some parlor trick - but every little bit helps I think. Surely with all the different minds on HF someone has to have a parlor trick though :D

I would consider "Users Viewing this Forum". Tried to enable it, I think we must have it removed in the template. I have to figure it out.
