It was HTML for a very short period, then visual basics ... found my way back to web development. :D

Very first? VBScript. Integrated Batch and a little JScript a year later. Haven't used any of them in some time. Most recently Batch for an auto-compile macro in Notepad++.

Java, JS, Ruby, Python, PHP, HTML/CSS

I've only really got behind Java/JS/PHP/HTML

It was either JavaScript or Visual Basic 6- I don't remember now what I picked up first. I suppose I probably dabbled in some HTML a bit before any of that, but that wasn't what drew me into programming.

I think it was mirc scripting language that actually got me into programming. I have tinkered a lot with batch before but msl definitely gets the credits here :P

visualbasic with vs2008 i think.
didnt really do a whole lot with it, mainly just liked making GUIs.
but it was an introduction, i guess.

No one is going to say that HTML isn't a programming language? Oh yeah, by the way I know Markdown? See how silly it looks? Maybe I'm just grouchy in my old age, who knows.

For me it was Ruby with Learn To Program and then Jumping into C++, but since I wasn't clever enough I ditched programming for a very long time and instead focused on systems administration and hardware, however after a few years I picked up C# Unleashed and somehow, as thick as the book was my brain wasn't, so I kinda rode with C# for awhile, during my time at the first school I worked out I picked up PowerShell, made some utilities and learnt more about systems internals and generally low level programming stuff picking up some in house PHP projects and so on and so forth, fast forward all the way to today, I mostly program in C# if I am going to with a dabble of Win32 C++, Ruby is long since forgotten, it's replaced with Bash, PowerShell, PHP, C#, Win32 C++ and any other seemingly random tidbits my brain decided to store away instead.

You took the words out of my keyboard 😵😵

I started out with DevPascal when I was younger, then moved on to Java and fell in love with IDEs after so many years of compiling without one.

It's not worth the conversation. You have to be a real neckbeard to bother.

I guess it's putting them back in your keyboard? But oh well, it's just an argument for arguments sake and decided to take the time to use the coding section to ask a SRPP question.

God, isn't it just like you can hear me starting to say ACKCHYUALLY as I adjust my glasses like a anime villain? Trust me, I'm that good.

RE: Programming Languages - Dialog - Sep 21, 2022

I started out with Visual Basic .NET roughly 15 years ago. And then quickly switched to C# because that's what the "cool" people on here used - no kidding. Since then, I've made a good living off writing code in about 10 languages (may be forgetting the odd one). As of lately, I'm mostly working with Go on distributed systems, with some bash to automate a lot of DevOps-y tasks and repetitive business processes.

HTML -> Java -> C++ -> Python (first one I enjoyed) -> JS (first one I got a job for) -> Go (all time favorite)
