Remove 48 hour report restriction - Dehyped | 天使 - Sep 30, 2022

"Sorry but you cannot report posts older than 48 hours. If this thread is important to be junked please contact staff directly via PM."

What good is this doing? Why would you even want this feature? Removing this immediately makes it easier for regular members to help clean up the forums and would probably save a lot of inbox space for staff.

I mean, it prevents posts from 2019 being reported. No use in removing those.

I would say: extend the time, maybe 7 days old?

I feel like there is, though. That's like saying "why throw out trash from two years ago?" Well, because it's taking up space in your garage and it serves no purpose.

I get that Omni probably wants a certain amount of stuff sticking around for SEO purposes but it's just annoying to sift through 100 dead threads with OPs who never reply or filled with broken links.

Can you give an example of something older than 3 months that would require removal by staff via the report post feature?

The feature is more so for staff to delete posts/threads that are of immediate concern, not necessarily to clean up old posts that might be in breach of rules.

There isn't really a need to extend the time and doing so would lessen the priority given to more recent posts/threads. I don't think anyone wants to wait longer as there are still impatient people who will click report and then immediately message me with the link to an already junked thread or post.

So what exactly is wrong with this? Is it the attachment?

Well one or two scrolls of the mouse wheel show many posts reporting it as a common scam, if it is a scam it's still being replied to now and the thread is still open with an attachment anyone can download.

I agree that 48 hours is low but I also think there should definitely be a cap.

Like, if a thread hasn't been responded to in 6 months then it can't be reported but if it's "active" like that one is then maybe it could prevent people getting scammed (if it is, just using the link as an example).

I've seen infected links or downloads sneak by and sit here for months or longer. Can't be reported because its over 48 hours, and it worries me that new members may come here looking for something and come across that post, get a virus and blame HF.

You can report. Just message a staff member.
