My dad feels depressed for not being able to provide for family. - kookur - Oct 9, 2022

Well he had a job as a professor in Botany for 20 years in our hometown before I made my whole family move to another city leaving everything behind. Currently it's me and my brother who support the family and my father has been unemployed since last year. He's 53 Y/O and still wants to work but we tried finding him a job in his field but they pay very less considering his experience ( Unemployment in India).

We or him don't want a blue collar or odd job for him but we also want him to make some money and contribute to the family till he's able to work physically and mentally.

I was looking for ideas if I can setup something online for him in the field of his expertise which can make him something instead of nothing?

His educational background :

He's a PhD in Botany from a reputed college.

Has 20 years of experience to teaching undergrads and post grade students and students doing PhD under his guidance.

It's sad to see for a man qualified like this is unemployed ☹️

Yeah if I can somehow turn that into an online gig, I'm learning web development and can build websites so I'm thinking to setup him a website where he can sell courses and give tuitions.

That would be harder for him, I think. He would be better off if you he can tuition students directly at your home/studio or he can go and visit any private classes like Chate etc. or any available within your area if he can find a job there looking at his past experience.

You should show to your Indian dad how to register on HF so he could scam peoiple like you do

Imagine scamming people with dogshit methods for $150 then complaining about being raised in a poor family.

Don't you guys in anyway can provide for him even for a little business he can operate just to give him something to start.
I guess what he needs right now is another outlet where he can spend time to be more busy and somehow will get the chance to earn as well.

He has a slave mindset, fears of running a business of his own. I can try to setup a business for him but opening a foodcart or selling on street is considered shameful in my country and not respected. I'm in a tier 1 city so restaurants are an expensive thing to open.

Oh then maybe online business would be another option to consider.
