Are Apple Products Really On Lockdown? - REL1G - Nov 9, 2022

I found an iPhone at a Thriftstore and tried to see the contents of it by plugging it in via USB to my computer. Long story short, I wasnt able to access anything. I tried to search for software or methods on accessing a iPhone when you dont know or have forgotten your passcode. Downloaded the software(s) and tried 2 or 3 of them, but no luck. My takeaway was, unless you know the passcode -OR- know the apple id you cannot get into the phone to see or pull data off of it. The only option I had was to essentially reformat the phone, but then that defeats the purpose because I wanted to see what was on the phone, not keep it for myself for personal use.

I currently have an iPhone, but have much more experience with Androids.

Its hard to imagine that my brief trials with trying to get into the phone and the outcome I had was correct and that it is impossible to get data off Apple Products without a passcode or Apple ID....

You would have to bruteforce the PIN and figure out some way of bypassing the 10 login attempt limit. Or you open it up, read the flash directly, and crack the encryption.

Yes, it really is that hard. Apple puts privacy over all other concerns.

Ive read articles about persons of interest and/or criminals and the police wanting access and Apple not complying with them due to those privacy commitments. Apple just went up a peg on my list lol
