Scams in Google Shopping results - webdev77 - Dec 10, 2022

As a fiscally responsible person, I always look to ensure I'm not over paying for products. In my searching today, I came across a somewhat clever scam site.

The scam site is centralglobalsuppliers.com

The owner is abusing google search results to rank highly in shopping results. This is done by manipulating pricing to appear near the top. Nothing on the site is real. They won't ship products. It doesn't look like the site shows up in normal search results, only shopping results.

There are plenty of signs the site is sketchy. Things like using whatsapp for support, being unable to checkout with paypal unless you contact the scammer who then wants friends and family payment. Exceptionally obvious this is not a legit operation.

Stay on the lookout for things that seem too good to be true.

Might be sketchy, but I’ve seen a lot of business lately converting to WhatsApp Business Support.

i have seen a lot of company's using Whatsapp but never saw one lead you to pay "friends and family payment" this shows they are scammers or at least will not send the same product they show

Perhaps normal for Asian and certain European countries, but definitely unusual for a company with an address of an abandoned warehouse in Texas.

Agreed. It was recently registered too, so there's that.

I acknowledge the website is sketchy overall, but this is perfectly normal and is an upcoming use-case that is actively market by the WhatsApp Business team. More and more businesses adopt this. Currently, this is happening most predominantly in the Southeast Asia and LATAM markets, and in a lesser degree in Europe.

Yes, normal for those places, not rural Texas.
