Token Issuer on Radix - Grammar Rays - Feb 20, 2023

Hey

Has anyone participated in the distribution of tokens on Radix from the issuer side?

I have a project I’m working on and would like to introduce a token.

The token would:
  • Raise funds for development beyond my own skills/experience
  • Provide utility in the project
  • Reward participants
  • Governance

But, I don’t have any experience issuing tokens.

Including but not limited to: regulatory/legal consideration (AML/KYC etc), marketing/awareness campaign and logistically.

Does anyone have any experience of this nature?

Wish I could help, but these are a lot of topics I've never tackled. That being said, I am interested in responses so posting here to remind me to come back and as a free bump.

I can probably point you in the right direction for the actual distribution though, how to send to many addresses in one transaction for example.

I find the easiest wallet to issue custom tokens from was Waves. I think for Radix you'll have to setup a node. Or contact someone who has one.

Found this for doing it via API.

https://docs.radixdlt.com/main/apis/creating-a-token.html

Now you just have to find an Radix server with an open API you can push transaction to issue token.

EDIT: Actually appears that the example code uses radix mainnet which appears online and usable. https://mainnet.radixdlt.com/

Further, their Github has a plethora of community made examples for topics such as these:

For example, if you wanted to host 'Hackforum's Radix Token Deployer' on /mint.php, you could take a look at this deployer example and get a web based token deployer going that operates similarly to how Waves' wallet did, just externally:

Thanks! I did spot & bookmark the API, I didn't toy with it but I think I grasped it.

Though, one thing did stand out as beyond my current knowledge which was signing the request before submitting it that may be a bit of a learning curve (I guess a few hours of research and practice!) but actually I think that substantiating the token on ledger may be the easiest part of the token puzzle.

I'm more-so worried about not fully understanding 'the other stuff' such as any tax implications, the legal status of such a token (I think, after some brief research, in the UK at least & for the use-cases I have, it'd be an 'unregulated utility/exchange token' - as opposed to a regulated e-money or regulated security), any requirements for me to KYC/AML the buyers, and all of the other 'stuff' currently unbeknown to me that goes around the token launch.

I got stuck on trying to get my wallets public key hex.

Actually I just checked my Z3us web3 wallet I use for Radix. it has token creation option in Settings->Token Management->Create Token.

So boom there ya go.

Such a pain in the ass initially.

This is actually what made me so fond of the Caviar Nine team. I was struggling with this aspect and Tronn, from C9, tossed me a message randomly offering to help and then spent a few hours going over this and different aspects of operating a full node with me. He didn't know me, had zero obligation to help, yet he helped me understand quite a lot about running a Radix node.

Love the C9 team <3

Normally official wallets have a console or dev mode to run node-like commands. Commands like getting your pubkey or maybe changing a setting.

I'm actually very disappointed overall with the default Radix wallet. It's a crap interface, poor controls, and nearly featureless.
