What is hacking and types of hacking. - proximus - Feb 23, 2023
I know I could find this on google but on google there is no other type of thing than lies I've found, so if you know what is hacking and types of hacking by heart pls comment it!
I'm asking for a formal definition not the normal "accessing computers without permission" that is cracking or the definition of cracking "pirate software".
Anyways the match has begun!

White, Grey and Black Hat are the 3 common terms used to categorize types of Hackers.
White hats find holes, exploits and vulnerabilities and work to patch and resolve them with the vendors.
Grey hats will openly release a exploit to the public allowing everyone access to a vulnerability.
Black hats use exploits, vulerabilities and the such for illegal and/or malicious purposes.
Im sure someone else an give a better break down around here, but thats the general idea.
Crackers generally are known for breaking through codes, encryptions and protections.

Actually, the broadest definition is more like unintended uses of computers. There can be network hacking, malware creation, social engineering, man-in-the-middle, DoS/DDoS, web/web app hacking, and password attacks.
Also, you seem kind of full of it by posing a 'match' as your first question here.

I meant match as a videogame, I like playing videogames and I was playing a match at R6
