Most people who do achieve a level of fame and notoriety do so without trying to... at least like it was in the good ol' days. For a while now the most popular way to get famous is to establish an online presence with the sole purpose of outreach, influence ,etc. However, statistically you are unlikely to actually accomplish this. Whether it's YouTube, Twitch, wherever, you are unlikely to be the person that gets famous. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. The most important thing you can do is network with people, talk, and develop your skills. If you are good at things and are interesting you'll be fine in life and enjoy the benefits of money and friends even if you're not the most famous. And if you do get famous by being so skilled and cool then that's a bonus.
It's all just a numbers game, so don't take it personally - you, I, most people will probably never be famous. I would say that posting on HF and being so high quality that you make friends with certain users here may actually be a more statistically likely method to becoming famous than being a hamster in a wheel over on the next biggest social media trend.

Along with tailored social media campaigns that are directed at your target audience, provide value to your local community.
Scale it out gradually to the areas you want.
After achieving popularity, you may come to the realization that it cannot be undone and that you would much prefer to live in peace and luxury because you can never interact with people outside of your bubble without being treated like a commodity.
Realize over time that everything in this universe has a lifespan while still occasionally receiving attention, despite the fact that it is irreversible, and that as people move on to other trends, you eventually fade into obscurity.

From my experience either build something that can become famous or build someone who can become famous or put multiple potential people with the right energy under you. The roi on a nerdy, antisocial mate with impression rate and scaleability is far less than that of a 10/10 blonde or jacked fitness dude with crazy social energy and confidence.
