Bungies sues Destiny 2 Cheat Seller for 12,000,000 - iStillLurk - May 4, 2023 Bungie has secured another legal win against a Destiny 2 cheat-seller, with a court this time ordering the defendant to pay $12m USD in damages. Bungie filed a lawsuit against Romanian cheat-seller Mihai Claudiu-Florentin - who it claimed was behind Destiny 2 cheating software VeteranCheats - last year, alleging (thanks TheGamePost) copyright infringement, violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), violations of the Washington Consumer Protection Act (CPA), and intentional interference with contractual relations. Bungie had been seeking $11,696,000 in damages, a figure based on the $2,000 Claudiu-Florentin would make from each sale of VeteranCheats across a total of 5,848 downloads. The Washington Western District Court has now granted Bungie's request, deeming the studio to have sufficiently proven its claims of copyright infringement and breach of contract, but not of the CPA violation https://www.eurogamer.net/destiny-2-cheat-seller-must-pay-12m-following-latest-bungie-lawsuit-win RE: Bungies sues Destiny 2 Cheat Seller for 12,000,000 - hit - May 8, 2023 I understand devs going after competitive games for cheats but isn't destiny mainly pve. I'm not endorsing cheating but I mean if you're cheating in pve that doesn't effect the game as much as someone rage hacking in a cod lobby. Until you cheat to get a ton of weapons and flood the game with items. Cheating literally destroyed online gaming and there is numerous examples of that. Cheating in any multiplayer game does affect the game and player base, doesn't matter if game has a competitive mode. I literally quit playing cod and tarkov for the longest because of all the rage hackers. Apex I play more because they are harder on cheaters. I don't agree with cheaters and I see destiny is a looter shooter so dropping legendary weapons everywhere and carrying people through ruins it for all. I just think other companies like blizzard or ea should be going this hard in the paint to take down cheaters before bungie. Koodos to bungie though for caring about their game. |
