Do you prefer sub or dub anime? - Deany - May 5, 2023

Do you prefer subbed or dubbed anime? I prefer subbed to be honest.

Subbed anime is better than dubbed , so I will go for subbed anime.

Subbed quality is just better. Japanese VAs are just better with their range of emotions/feelings imo.
Raw is good too.

Yup I agree with this obvious one 😆

Depends on the show - like if it's a shounen like how My Hero Academia use to release the dubbed version the same day. They stopped doing that and were a week or more behind, so I went back to the subbed.

Audio engineering seems better in dubbed versions of shounens where they scream stuff like "PLUS ULTRA!"
In all my shows, it's about 80/20, in favor of subbed.

I just can't stand dubbed. I LITERALLY can not.

Always SUB! Dubs get annyoing at times when they can't show same emotions.

Lol yup. Dub sounds so out of place IMO.

Generally i prefer subbed anime with original japanese voice acting

Only exception i make is cyberpunk edgerunners where the english voice acting version is actually better then the japanese voice acting version

Best
Platinum Stargazer

Fellow Chad sub enjoyer, I see you.

People who speak English as a first language will generally prefer subbed, as dubbed is incredibly cringe-inducing.

RE: Do you prefer sub or dub anime? - Prettykitty - May 16, 2023

Sub anime for sure, wouldn't watch it any other way.

RE: Do you prefer sub or dub anime? - Piplup - May 16, 2023

It depends on the anime. For low-concept stuff, dubbed is fine. But for something with particularly intense action (combat, sex, etc) where little intonations matter, I feel like you kind of have to go with sub... which is also why I don't watch much anime. I like to multitask while TV is on, and reading to keep up with subtitles kills that.
