Face ID Door Lock - Spookz - May 17, 2023 I have made the decision to acquire a Raspberry Pi 4 and embark on a project to develop a face ID door lock utilizing cv2 and related technologies. To facilitate this endeavor, I have procured a relay and a suitable lock. However, despite ensuring meticulous wiring, I am encountering an issue wherein the lock fails to open or close when attempting to supply power. I have thoroughly verified the correctness of the wiring connections, eliminating any potential issues arising from that aspect. Nevertheless, I am uncertain whether the relay, the lock, or perhaps even the Raspberry Pi itself is the root cause of this predicament. I would greatly appreciate any assistance from anyone willing to lend a hand in troubleshooting this issue. RE: Face ID Door Lock - webdev77 - May 17, 2023 Does your power source have enough current sourcing abilities for the lock? Sounds like a typical solenoid that will draw a huge current spike when you open or close it. Even if your wiring is correct, a lack of enough instantaneous power would cause the issue you are describing. RE: Face ID Door Lock - Charlie Sheen - May 17, 2023 As webdev said, are you certain you're supplying enough power? Would you be willing to post a video of what you have going on? Would you be willing to post a video of what you have going on? Certainly! I understand that I will need to reconnect all the components since I had stored them away, but it's not a significant inconvenience. I'm more than willing to do what it takes to resolve this situation. In the interim, I have also acquired a keypad for a keycode door lock as an alternative to the face ID solution, considering its vulnerability. I believe it's a prudent choice to explore different options to ensure a robust and secure door lock system. Diodes don't supply more power, they only act as protection devices for this application. Diodes would not solve the issue I am describing but could be used as protection to prevent transient spikes from back feeding the supply. Ahh ya you're right I wasn't even thinking of the original issue. |
