Reverse engineering - Atomicyummy - May 26, 2023 Hey I'm trying to get into reverse engineering and want to know like where to start. Ive had people tell me that I need to learn assembly but what else am I supposed to have I heard someone tell me a hex decoder or something like that. Just kind of want a list of the programs and things I need to get started. Maybe also like a list of like how you approach something to reverse engineer. RE: Reverse engineering - naturewizard69 - Jul 3, 2023 Start with reverse engineering by focusing on learning assembly, it is very crucial in the process. For the programs needed you need a hex editor (or a PE editor of sorts), disassembler, debugger, and a de-compiler. Approach what you are reverse engineering by finding what your end goal is, collect info about the system you are reverse engineering, research the system and how it works like it's functions, components, logic, and dependencies, then exploit the system and edit it's behavior based on your end goal. This is very simplified but I am willing to answer your questions about the topic if you have any. |
