What's your definition of an HF oldfag? - Cooligan - Oct 3, 2023

We all know they're still lurking in the shadows, just waiting for another one of these threads to pop up so they can come out of HF-bernation and make their annual post lol.

- Really though - what years would you consider to be old enough, to be deemed a true HF oldfag?

Personally I've always considered it to be whatever is the current 10+ year old mark, so right now that year would be 2013. I mean, I definitely do feel like an oldfag in ways at this point after a decade plus of being active here, but then I see accounts that registered in 2010 and earlier that are still active to this day and I just think "damn, I still got a few years to go here" lol.

However the TRUE oldfags are those who registered between 2006 - 2009; the 2000s members. Once the 2010s hit, it was a different vibe though. (well really I'd say 2015 and on it really started to change but that's another story)

I’d also say 10+ years at HF. I’m one of the few remaining lurkers from 2008, more an ancientfag at this point haha.

You should visit https://hackforums.net/awardgoals.php so you can get the King Decade award!

Didn’t realise you could ask for it, my recollection has always been if you ask for an award you definitely don’t get it haha. I’ll check it out though, thank you.

Edit - Weirdly just been awarded this haha.

Definitely the ones with the 10+ years award.

I wouldn't know about anything HF related pre-2010. I can hardly say I was active, I mostly lurked for a long time.

I'm just glad to be getting back into the community as an active member.

I don't have anyone in mind, but it's sort of funny when you see them post their milestone of being on HF for 5, 8, or 10 years, when they haven't really been active or given back to the HF community.

RE: What's your definition of an HF oldfag? - Sky - Oct 3, 2023

Goes two ways.
I personally considered everyone pre-2010 as an oldie. But given how time has passed and we are where we are, I'd say pretty much any 10+ year account.

Visiting the page makes it recognise your account registration date, which gives you the award which is why I wanted you to visit it :)

RE: What's your definition of an HF oldfag? - Charlie Sheen - Oct 3, 2023

I say 10 year + is oldfag.

Those before 2010. Those are the OG's.

RE: What's your definition of an HF oldfag? - Deany - Oct 3, 2023

I agree on the 10+ tenure tbh

RE: What's your definition of an HF oldfag? - Jinu - Oct 3, 2023

That's also cause Lrrr is currently residing in Tate's old Romanian prison dungeon.

Yeah you're definitely an old head lol. I think you and Tonka are the two oldest members that are still active on all of HF iirc. I know Tonka is super old too, he's a cool dude.

So the way the Award Goals page works is every time you load and refresh the page, it checks your account data for any updated data that would make you eligible to earn another award goal.

For example: The Green Apple award for having 1,000+ popularity. Once you reach 1k, you need to go and load, then refresh the award goals page in order for HF to recognize you past 1k. This of course works the same way for every other award on that page as well.

I hope that better explains it! :)

This seems to be the general consensus

Anyone with the King Decade award = HF oldfag ✅
Anyone pre 2010 (2000s only) = HF OG ✅

I'm glad you did man, I love your signature! I actually saved it to my imgur account so I can have it as inspiration for a new signature should I want a gaming related one.

I feel this. So many members who came back out of nowhere just to claim the award and haven't made any posts in the last year lmao.

RE: What's your definition of an HF oldfag? - oRequiem - Oct 3, 2023

I'd say 9-10+ year members and hackercraft members.
