locate a stolen device in the network - capitanseldon - Dec 10, 2023 Hi There is this frustrating and at the same time interesting problem I recently encountered: a last gen iPad got stolen in a public library. Knowing MAC and SN numbers and assuming that the robber gets back in the same library I would like to ask: how would you act to spot physically your device after you confirm it's connected over the wifi? curious to know if there's somethink out of the ordinary that you guys can point out Thanks in advance for the help RE: locate a stolen device in the network - megameow - Dec 10, 2023 i would just sit in the desk opposite and not be suspicious... can't be that hard :3 RE: locate a stolen device in the network - capitanseldon - Dec 10, 2023 (Dec 10, 2023 02:20 PM)megameow Wrote: i would just sit in the desk opposite and not be suspicious... can't be that hard :3 It's a start! :) Situation get's complicated because there are hundred of students and everyone of them has got an iPad.. RE: locate a stolen device in the network - DramaKing - Dec 10, 2023 If it's a school or college library, I would think there's a possibility, but otherwise I wouldn't expect it to show up in the place that it was stolen. Thieves like to move stolen goods rather than keep them. Plus, to make your plan work, there would need to be a monitoring device constantly checking MAC addresses. Better to use Find My to secure the device and attempt to track it. |
