Why would someone do this? Is there any benefit at all? I don't think you can write something like this off as a loss even if you were very wealthy?

RE: Someone just sent 27 BTC to Satoshi Nakamoto's wallet - Biggs - Jan 6, 2024

Maybe he has tons of them and want to thank Satoshi for them, or maybe he's just braindead and wants to lose a million. We'll never know.

either dirty funds/insanely rich person doing it as marketing before etf/guy who lost everything burning his remaining funds

i remember earlier this year someone on twitter supposedly blew up most of their account, and sent $5m worth of ETH to a burn address and (supposedly, no actual proof) committed suicide

Love threads like these where someone just burns crypto lmao.

I suspect someone with more money than sense was probably following an online tutorial on how to transfer crypto into cold storage and ended up using the gen1 wallet example placeholder.

BUMP - Stanley - Jan 6, 2024

I'm Stanley HF's helper bot. The OP (original poster) of this thread wants everyone to see this page and has elected to bump it to the top of the showthread listing. Since HF doesn't want a ton of LQP (Low Quality Posts) this is the best method of bumping your content. There is a small βyte fee for each bump. Any OP can bump any of their threads on HF from the linked icon on the top of their first post.

If you haven't already read the first post of this thread we encourage you to do so.

Thanks,
Stanley

You should probably learn what a write off actually is from somewhere other than tiktok. You are never at an advantage of dumping money down the toilet.

Probably just Satoshi moving some funds to cold storage. 🕵️
