Website Cloning - 3oxic - Feb 5, 2024
So I have seen a game made in html + js + css. Went right clicking to inspect element and i cannot. Then the next most obvious thing to do:
Hit CTRL + SHIFT + I
Inspect element opens but nothing usefull so far. Tried to download with HTTPTrack and failed.
First off how is even such thing possible?
i guess HTTPTrack immitates a broswer through headers maybe, so that shouldnt happen?
I see the game does multiple post requests to an endpoint, and fetches some picutres from various endpoints.
Is it possible such thing to be cloned? If yes how?

I don't think thats a good solution. I want an exact clone of the game which due to copyrights i guess chatGPT wont be able to give me solution

Cloning a website via the user interface is like reverse-engineering a Bugatti from a photo. It'll look similar but it probably won't run the same 😏
Try to see if the thing has a public git repository somewhere. Afterwhich you just do git clone https://git.whatever.com/user/repo

there should be a git repository you can clone, i dont see the possibility of cloning just the UI and it works perfectly.

When you say you go to view the source you can't, do you mean the website blocks your access to its source code?
If so, in the URL bar, try something like view-source:website-url. That'll bypass any JS that may be preventing you from doing so.
Depending on the sort of site you're wanting to clone, I wouldn't be surprised if you don't find what you're looking for.
