What is the meaning behind some of the name colors? I have noticed that some of the names indicate membership to some of the groups on HF, but there seem to be exceptions. For example, I have noticed mine is yellow but I haven't joined any groups.

Yellow is the color for the L33t membership group. Blue is Ub3r, dark green is Vendor and others are various groups.

White: Non-upgraded
Yellow: L33t
Blue: Ub3r
Dark Green: Vendor
Light Blue: Staff
Black: Exiled
Grey: Closed
If its anything else they are part of a group

As they said yellow for leet and blue for uber, Remaining are vendor green and groups types

I used to have UB3R a while back, but it expired, probably will buy it again next month or something.
