What do you guys think happens when the last bitcoin is mined? - SIM-2502833 - Mar 7, 2024 I recently saw this little youtube short. (In case embed is broken for #shorts https://www.youtube.com/shorts/BjGOSXwQO3k?feature=share ) Anyways, this video did give me a new perspective of a potential future for BTC assuming all of our dreams come true. What do you think happens when the last coin is mined? RE: What do you guys think happens when the last bitcoin is mined? - Marvelous - Mar 7, 2024 It isn't like going to be a giant shock because for years before the last one is mined, miners will only be getting less than .1 per block. Its 6 per block now, in a few months it will be 3, 4 years.. 1.5, .75, .35 etc. That's within 12 years. The real question is what is the incentive to mine when the block reward is .05 BTC and everyone is using a free platform like lightning to transact? Edit: ETH is already deflationary. https://ultrasound.money/ RE: What do you guys think happens when the last bitcoin is mined? - SportsArb - Mar 8, 2024 It's going to be a long time until that happens. Miners will still make money through TX RE: What do you guys think happens when the last bitcoin is mined? - GruntStyl - Mar 8, 2024 (Mar 8, 2024 05:07 AM)SportsArb Wrote: It's going to be a long time until that happens. RE: What do you guys think happens when the last bitcoin is mined? - mendmysoulxoxo - Mar 8, 2024 new bitcoin network might appear RE: What do you guys think happens when the last bitcoin is mined? - Omniscient - Mar 8, 2024 (Mar 7, 2024 10:42 PM)Marvelous Wrote: The real question is what is the incentive to mine when the block reward is .05 BTC and everyone is using a free platform like lightning to transact? You're not seriously asking that question are you? Gonna assume you are and waste my time answering. 12 years ago the reward was 50 Bitcoin. Do you think the miners quit when the reward dropped to 25? Did the miners quit when it dropped to 6.25? Each Halvening the supply of Bitcoin drops and the value goes up. .05 BTC along with the fees could easily represent more in value than miner make today. When the reward is zero which is in 120 years, no one here will be alive and it will be up future generations to figure it out. Don't allow your ETH Maxi goggles to blind you. RE: What do you guys think happens when the last bitcoin is mined? - Kalvaxas - Mar 8, 2024 My response was essentially going to be what Omniscient wrote. None of us will be alive when BTC runs out. Even then, BTC is just one network of currency. By then, several more will have come out. How people choose to invest is up to them, but there's 0 reason to worry about BTC running out in our life time. Probably not even in out children's lifetime either. What I'm saying here is - Not only are your investments safe (as can be with any crypto), but you can pass those investments onto your kids when you die. They may not be able to pass it down to their kids, but who knows. Like I said, Satoshi intentionally put a cap on BTC. It's not a crypto cap. It's a developer cap. That's the most important thing to understand here. It's my dead grandparents parents born then. A long f'n time ago. Most people were still getting around using horses. Now that I think of it, usually generations are only 20 years apart. So, I suppose that makes 6 generations starting between now and when BTC runs out. So I retract my statement. Instead, what I mean to say is that you can pass down your investments from generation to generation. It'll be quite awhile before folks need to start worrying about BTC, but even then... Who knows what'll be out by then. RE: What do you guys think happens when the last bitcoin is mined? - Domestos - Mar 8, 2024 (Mar 8, 2024 02:18 PM)๖ۣۜSasuke Wrote: Yeah, that's a fair point. Wouldn't that mean the 5th generation would see the end of bitcoin generation at 20? if the plan is to pass 1 bitcoin until bitcoin moves to just fees I'd say it'd be better to let the 4th generation cash it out, why? We don't know how much bitcoin would be worth, but if it would be worth 5-10 mil (Not counting inflation) I'd rather a 40 year old, financially stable man use it, invest and etc. than a 20 yo that would blow all that money on shit. Honestly, if gen 1 (us) play our cards right, then every generation would see financial freedom. We would do all of the hard work and time consumption to get there. They would kind of just have it made, but who cares. We'd be dead, and family is family. What they do with that money passed down has no affect on us. Maybe our legacy if we even have one, but who cares. We won't be around to know it. Not really, even if you pass 10 mil to your 2 kids, it'll split 5mil each, next gen gets 2.5mil, grand grand kids will get 1.25mil. What I'm saying is the next generations wont get that much money, 1.25 wouldn't be much in 40-60 years. Also, just a side note, if your kids don't know what work is, and the worth of money, they'll blow it within a few years like most lottery winners. Obviously, if I had 1 mil I'd have enough till the end of my life, I'd just have to play my cards right, invest most of it, live off what I get from the interest, save as much as possible and reinvest, but that's only because I've worked and I know the worth of money. See, the thing with investments is that you never stop investing. We wouldn't be taking out all of that money. With Crypto consistently making people rich beyond their wildest dreams, all it would take is educating your kids, and having them educate their kids and so on. Nowadays, there are ways to trade crypto with ease, maximizing profits. There's no reason you wouldn't be able to be financially free within a 10 year period if you put your best into it. I ran some numbers, and if played right, and with an average of 0.1% to 0.9% a day increase in profits... If you don't touch your initial investment... In 10 years, you wouldn't just be a millionaire. You'd be making 10 figures or more. The bull market isn't here forever, and if you a look at the log chart of every single cycle, you'll notice were not getting pumps as big as before, their getting smaller and smaller. You can't just throw money into a bag and hope when you open it it'll grow (crypto trading) and considering there are more than 1000 coins and growing, picking a bag to throw in might be a problem. But overall, my point is my kids are gonna make their own money, I need this, I don't want to retire into a cardboard box lol RE: What do you guys think happens when the last bitcoin is mined? - Kalvaxas - Mar 8, 2024 (Mar 8, 2024 02:57 PM)Domestos Wrote: Holdap, 0.1-1% a day? those are rug pull numbers. 35-365% yearly yield? All I can say is look into crypto trading bots who do that for you on a 24/7 basis. The subscriptions are typically paid in crypto as well. The numbers I gave you to make 10 figures in 10 years is starting with only an out of pocket investment of $5,430 over the course of 12 months. After 12 months, your profits are going to be strictly from trading. No more out of pocket expenses. That said, it's not a viable job or way to live as you don't want to touch those profits until at least year 4, but preferably after year 5. The nice thing is the government treats Crypto as property, and for IRS reasons, it's classified as capital gains. So the federal tax rate on capital gains is 20% (if you invest for over a year and have made more than $500 some thousand). There are also multiple states that have no state capital gain tax either (as well as no tax in general from wages). So ideally, if you're going to do this, and you live in the USA - You'd want to do some research before withdrawing huge lump sums. States like California, you're be losing A LOT. Like half of the money you withdrew. There's definitely research that needs to go into this, but having an auto trader very much so minimizes any risks. |
