Just moved out of my parents, what can i expect? - pms - Mar 23, 2024

First night alone in my new apartment, got wine and food so i'm enjoying every second of the quietness.
I got pretty lucky with this appartment, it has a nice view over a lake, also a big balcony.

However, now that i'm on my own, what can I expect from this? Is it that much different than living with my parents?
I'm used to cooking my own food, cleaning my room, doing laundery etc. As well as paying monthly rent.

Just more freedom and feeling relaxed. It's a pretty cool feeling when ya get up in the middle of the night and go to the kitchen and you're looking around at everything and thinking "this is my place".

There will be times you feel lonely. That's when I used to just call someone or find someone to talk to online. I didn't get much alone time though, I got my first apartment and started dating my now wife like 2 weeks later.

Seems like you were already adulting before you moved out, good for you man.

Hope your new crib is everything you dreamed it would be.

The freedom feeling is amazing really, i feel it. I do have a girlfriend that ish lives here but also lives at home still. Yes i look forward to walking to the kitchen in the middle of the night, dick swinging. 😁

I guess i was really, my mother was really tough in some ways.
It's perfect for me and my girlfriend, it isnt the biggest but shit man, the view is everything.

I would downsize my house if it meant a view. Views > space.

But honestly the only real difference is everyday items and loneliness. Seems like you’re good with the girlfriend coming over, the everyday items sometimes add up. Laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, snacks, tools, all that kind of shit added up when I first moved out forever ago.

Freedom, freedom, and more freedom. You've now entered the world of being a true adult. All responsibilities fall on you. Anything goes wrong, you're the one that needs to look after it. Alot more responsibility comes with living on your own, but man is it a great feeling.

That sounds bloody lit man.

I still live with my parents, but they’re sooo chill I haven’t quite had the urge of moving out.

So I just stack me cash while enjoying my time with parents.

Hope you’re not too far away from them!

Good job my friend, think the next step is to find a good job stable to marry a girl

More freedom for sure. After awhile, the feeling of freedom will die down and you'll start to feel pretty lonely. You'll never want to move back home again, but you'll definitely miss having people around from time to time. Other than that, bills, bills, and more bills. You'll have to do all of your shopping of course. Dealing with health insurance and everything else that needs a change of address update, sucks. For the most part, the post office takes care of forwarding mail for like 6 months I think? To your new address. You'll need to call all of your doctors and such to let them know, though.

Honestly, the odds and ends (toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, hand towels... etc.) will start to add up. Start buying things slowly, even when you don't exactly need them yet. Everything I buy, I always get double what I need because you will run out of things.

Bills, bills, and bills. Hopefully you have steady income. Sounds like you don't have a girlfriend/kids. Which saves a lot of money and responsibilities. If you have decent income to what you're paying out. You will be fine. Take care my friend. =]

Brooo that's actually lit as fuck!!!! If anything, I will be doing the same.

In my area, a lot of new high apartments have been constructed and may consider movin into a local high rise building.

However everyone's happy here so I'm not sure when I'm trying to move out.
