[Rust Preferred] Web Development Partner - Chief™ - Apr 2, 2024

Hello HF,

I am seeking a partner or partner(s) in the realm of developing web applications using Rust. My goal here is to either develop a framework for different use cases, or extend/optimize existing Rust full stack frameworks with the intent to provide Professional/Managed Services/Consultancy around the use of the framework in question.

About Me:
I am a jack of all trades, master of none that has worked in the technology industry for about 11 years now. I've been a member of HF for longer than that, since before the 2008 DB wipe. I am currently a consultant for a fairly large company that will remain unnamed, but I have previously worked for IBM, HostGator and an assortment of other much smaller companies in the capacity of IT Manager. I am currently in the process of rebuilding my homelab and I am hoping to develop a general architectural "systems management" pattern using some of the concepts I've learned throughout my career. I am more proficient in scripting (Python, PowerShell, BASH, Automation, Network Configs etc) than programming, so it would be good to partner up with someone who knows Software/Data engineering more in-depth than myself.

The Project
I chose Rust because the alternatives are Java and C#/.NET. I am not opposed to using C#/.NET but I would prefer not to use Java. Since Rust is now available natively in both the Linux and Windows kernel-space, I feel that it would be a better long term solution to build a framework around it. My goal is to start by building a web API, command line interface and a general 'module' system within the API that allows for the easy integration of middleware such as message queues. I am not TOO worried about the frontend aspect at this stage but being familiar with frontend frameworks is a bonus. Ultimately, I am hoping to build a general purpose backend/integration hub framework that can seamlessly plug into solutions built by The Hyperledger Foundation (https://dltlandscape.hyperledger.org/) which is a sub-project of The Linux Foundation.

Due to my previous tenure at IBM, who is one of the founders of The Hyperledger Foundation, I already have a line to provide us with consulting work with relatively large clients should we succeed. The consulting work would consist primarily of development requests and support requests. We will handle the former with me handling the scoping aspect and infrastructure concerns, while I already have a small team ready to handle the latter.

I can discuss additional specifics with you privately, so if you are interested feel free to DM me!

Chief™
