I followed the guide I was blessed with and it said didn't give me the password.. IDK what else to say I only had one guide/reference point and I understand there are different ways

If you're relying on the default wordlist, it's a small wonder that you couldn't get the password. That's barely trying. If you want to get serious, try https://weakpass.com/wordlist/1948. Even so, I would focus on routers with default ESSIDs.
