Macbook Pro 13 Mid 2017, Storage Upgradeable? - Chapman - Apr 28, 2024

As far as i know, Macbook Pro 13, Mid 2017 model storage space is not expandable. Can you suggest me a solution for that? Thanks

You could get an external hard drive or SSD, or use cloud storage. I use MEGA, and I'm pretty sure that someone on HF is offering it for cheaper than the original price.

I believe this video has some contents for you:

Although unsure if that model is actually the right one, if you are okay with voiding any warranties, etc. From what I can tell, you are not supposed to modify it. The SSD is soldered onto the logic board.

Here are some other solutions:
  1. Use cloud storage. Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud all offer cloud storage.

  2. Use an external hard drive. You could plugin and external HDD through a USB slot, they are rather affordable.

  3. Use an external solid state drive. Similar to last option, but better, more expensive.

And a more obvious answer, is to use the tools provided with your Macbook to clean up the storage you have. There are built in tools for this.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestions, i will rather go with external SSD instead of soldering.
