Sent $450 paypal to TayK in exchange for $450 worth of BTC. After sending payment yesterday, he confirmed he received and said he was sending BTC, but never sent. And he's stopped replying to convo.
As you can see, no transactions to the BTC address I gave him: https://mempool.space/address/bc1qr5jz3042jq4j6rk3dvd25xnd8wrf6c0dx248ts

I don't expect a resolution here. This is just a warning for anyone thinking about doing business with TayK. He's a scammer.

Communicate and ask for refund if he is unable to make transfer.
Or, since you sent PayPal, just Chargeback and talk to PayPal customer support.

The only other message I've received from TayK was in the last 15mins (The convo/exchange is from 21hrs ago), and it's just him playing stupid.

No point in wasting more time pleading with a scammer. If he wants to do the right thing and complete his end of the contract (or refund the paypal transaction), he obviously knows he can. And if that happens, I will close the dispute.

Yea, I assumed as much. I gave him more than enough time before opening the dispute. I've done enough currency exchanges to know when someone is attempting to scam. This dispute is just a warning for others.

I obviously considered all this before doing the exchange. Normally, I wouldn't go first with a user who has that much less cred than me, but it's been awhile since I've been on HF (last exchange I completed with a user was July 2023), and it appeared like TayK had successfully completed a handful of currency exchanges recently, and based on his post count and time spent on HF, I figured he wouldn't want to ruin his rep (ie: start a new account) over $450.
Clearly, I didn't realize how desperate he was for a few hundred bucks, or how little his time is worth to build up this account for 2 months just to make $450 (and likely lose his PP account). I've completed nearly 200 exchanges on HF over the years, and I've only lost money to a scammer once before. Maybe this will be the second time, depending on how I handle Paypal, but it is what it is.

Why haven't you created a chargeback yet on PayPal? Just tell them the money was sent without your knowledge and it'll be refunded. Easy. Friends and Family or not. They will refund it.
