scapy windows messages - code_g33k - Jul 20, 2024

Does anyone know what these messages mean after launching scapy?

Code
C:\Users\Admin>scapy
INFO: Can't import PyX. Won't be able to use psdump() or pdfdump().
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python312\Lib\site-packages\scapy\layers\ipsec.py:512: CryptographyDeprecationWarning: TripleDES has been moved to cryptography.hazmat.decrepit.ciphers.algorithms.TripleDES and will be removed from this module in 48.0.0.
  cipher=algorithms.TripleDES,
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python312\Lib\site-packages\scapy\layers\ipsec.py:516: CryptographyDeprecationWarning: TripleDES has been moved to cryptography.hazmat.decrepit.ciphers.algorithms.TripleDES and will be removed from this module in 48.0.0.
  cipher=algorithms.TripleDES,

I get this after I used pip install cryptography, this was suppose to fulfill three encryption warnings and it did but then it spits out the above after executing scapy.

Hello, I'm not an expert regarding coding but here is what ChatGPT generated :

The messages you are seeing when you run `scapy` indicate a few different issues and warnings related to your setup. Let's break them down:

1. PyX Import Issue:
```
Code
INFO: Can't import PyX. Won't be able to use psdump() or pdfdump().
```
- Explanation: Scapy is informing you that it couldn't import the PyX library. PyX is a Python package used for generating PostScript, PDF, and SVG files. Because PyX isn't available, Scapy won't be able to use its `psdump()` and `pdfdump()` functions, which are used for exporting data in those formats.
- Solution: If you need these functions, you should install PyX. You can install it using pip:
```sh
Code
pip install pyx
```

2. Cryptography Deprecation Warning:
```
Code
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python312\Lib\site-packages\scapy\layers\ipsec.py:512: CryptographyDeprecationWarning: TripleDES has been moved to cryptography.hazmat.decrepit.ciphers.algorithms.TripleDES and will be removed from this module in 48.0.0.
     cipher=algorithms.TripleDES,
   C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python312\Lib\site-packages\scapy\layers\ipsec.py:516: CryptographyDeprecationWarning: TripleDES has been moved to cryptography.hazmat.decrepit.ciphers.algorithms.TripleDES and will be removed from this module in 48.0.0.
     cipher=algorithms.TripleDES,
```
- Explanation: These warnings indicate that the `TripleDES` algorithm, which Scapy is using in its IPsec layer, has been deprecated in the `cryptography` library. The module `cryptography.hazmat.primitives.ciphers.algorithms` has moved `TripleDES` to `cryptography.hazmat.decrepit.ciphers.algorithms.TripleDES` and will remove it in version 48.0.0 of the `cryptography` library.
- Solution: These warnings don't immediately affect the functionality but indicate that future versions of the `cryptography` library will remove `TripleDES` from its current location. To avoid issues in the future, you might need to:
- Update Scapy to the latest version where this issue might be fixed.
- Replace the usage of `TripleDES` with another algorithm if feasible.

In summary:
- PyX Import Issue: Install PyX if you need to use `psdump()` or `pdfdump()`.
- Cryptography Deprecation Warning: These are warnings about future deprecations. Keep your libraries updated, and monitor Scapy's updates for any changes regarding this issue.

Thank you for your response, I am researching packet crafting and need all warnings, and errors resolved before I moved on, for the most part i installed pyx like you suggested and that warning disappeared but i'm stuck with those two errors, hopefully finding a solution for that too.
