Recommendations for beginning from scratch! RE: RAT or Keylogger - T3n - Aug 11, 2024 Personally i never thought about using any of those. But you can reverse shell RATs, for the keyloggers if you manage to find it, you can try and get the direction of where all the data is sent. A RAT can contain a keylogger, but they are generally very different. If you want to be as incognito as possible and just gather info like keystrokes then a keylogger is best bet unless you're wanting access and control over the system whenever. I dont recommend making your own rat from scratch. It can be a lengthy process for some and in the end lead to burnout for most. You could use a base from some other rats on github but those only really workout if you actually change things about them like the payload for example etc. Its a lot of work either way if you want to make your own rat from scratch. Pros:Access to the target at any time Execute commands/tasks remotely usually without much input Many rats include HVNC which is like an RDP (you might know but viewers may not) Cons: Requires constant connection Cli <-> Server Requires ports to be open for connection Packet data could be analyzed if not using TLS encryption or insecure networking |
