Contest Ideas - Cap - Oct 1, 2024
I’d like to get some contests rolling on-site for all members again. What do you have for ideas/suggestions for the contests? I’d like to bring back some form of trivia. Anything else specifically?

We have done HF trivia, scavenger hunts, post challenges, etc. some take a lot of time and effort.

I always liked the going back to HF roots and doing some decrypting puzzles or something along that lines.

Back in the day, Red Lions used to host really really tough scavenger hunts to answer mock questions that could be answered using the search function and scrolling through the forum to find the correct answers. These questions usually had to do with changes in the site over the years, questions related to site rules, obscure little gems that were really hard to find.
I’d be down to host something like this together. It’s really fun and engaging.

I'm a huge fan of the scavenger hunt on HF a few Christmases ago (or was it easter). That was a fun event!

It would be cool to see things that are different for the usual rolling a number and picking up a winner. However it usually lower the number of participants, I remember that I've made a thread asking to people running an AV scan and post the result to enter the contest (you know, because of the white hat), that was fun (and useful for some participants !) however I had only few participants
I really hope to see more things focused on hacking, some challenges would be cool

I would be open to trivia of some sort. I like mentally stimulating activities. Granted they aren't too tedious and tiring of course.

Some kind of treasure hunt with steps always seemed to do good within the community.
