Are you afraid of the dark? - plops - Oct 3, 2024

I am a grown man tasked with providing and protecting my family.

But when i wake up in the middle of the night to pee, i am always nervous in the dark. I am afraid something other than my cat is going to swipe my feet from inder the bed.

Is it just me

Used to be when I was a kid, my spine would feel a chill whenever I went into a dark place.
Now I find navigating without light kinda fun. Indoors you can tell where the walls are from the ambient noise reflecting off of them when you're close.

At my own place ? No lol. In a forest maybe, who knows what lurking in there.

Nope, only when I hear strange noises.
Otherwise I am fine with it.

A transhumanist time will come when people will be able to exchange their eyes for reptilian-like eyes.

Yeah i was thinking about transferring my consciousness to an arduino and replacing my eyes with night vision goggles.

Maybe thats what it is, making up scenarios that don't exist. I should learn how to accept the spiciness though

Then you'll be glad to know that your brain has the shitty habit of filling in the blanks. If you're actually thinking of something watching you, there's a good chance you'll see something in the dark cause your brain will try to fill that place in with something.

Main reason why I avoid looking in mirrors at night.

As a kid yes but not really. The only time I'm afraid of the dark is if I'm like in the woods, pitch black, that can be scary, even with lights / gear and a gun. That level of pitch black is unmatched, even with fairly powerful lanterns, headgear, I can usually see at most maybe 10 feet in front of me.

Nah I fuckin love the dark hahaha I feel like I thrive in the dark honestly.

Man I have yet to be in a secnerio like that. I like to watch videos of people going deep into caves and i always stress about what if their light went out. Just thinking of that darkness stresses me out.

I understand why darkness can evoke fear or discomfort in some people due to its association with the unknown.

Not really. I used to be. I think if I was somewhere that I didn't know I might be a little bit.
