Do you have favorite or model hacker ? - Bastille - Oct 26, 2024 I'm thinking about making a thread about the most famous / important hackers in the history, for our hacker culture, and I would like to get new names in case you have ones. The term "hacker" encompasses many activities that aren’t all malicious and have also evolved over time, so the people we mention that are related to hacking may have different paths, activities, and so on. I've read few books about the most important ones, like Kevin Mitnick, Bradley/Chelsea Meaning, Edward Snowden, Adrian Lamo, and there are many more I need to study such as : - Jeremy Hammond - Hamza Bendelladj - Karl Koch So far, I think that Kevin Mitnick was my favorite (he left us a year or two ago if I remember well ...), he had the FBI on his tail; he was playing with the feds, hacking systems simply for the challenge rather than for money. He was so confident that he’d physically enter buildings, posing as an employee to steal technical documents in order to understand how certain networks worked. He was truly the archetype of the original hacker, driven by a quest for challenge and knowledge. And you, who he's your favorite ? Of course this is not limited to hacker, if you have models in IT such as Linus Torvalds or Richard Stallman I would like to hear about them too ! For my part, in the "IT" field, it was Terry A Davis, the creator of TempleOS, if you don't know him you should really take a look on YT, there are few HQ videos about this amazing/controversary man RE: Do you have favorite or model hacker ? - ttbr0 - Oct 26, 2024 as a technical person myself, most of the respect i have are for those who are similar in kind. any person involved in googles project zero are probably the highest concentrated group of the most technically proficient hackers in this day. i hold the same amount of respect for those who have no public presence at all working silently in the background, researchers who work for shops that research and develop and engineer 0day exploits and implants. terry davis was, in his own regard and beyond all the memes, unironically very technically competent. RE: Do you have favorite or model hacker ? - Money- - Oct 26, 2024 For a sec I thought you mentioned about john hammond lol. That youtuber. Most youtubers aren't really much anyways. Just a busines man at the end of the day making money off the audience. Maybe liveoverflow youtuber wise might be the OG one. I didn't know the "Google Project Zero", I'll take a look at it :) And yeah, he was someone, different, but a god damn genius.. Bro when you spoke about most youtubers that are business men I was like "Damn, there is this guy I need to share to him, it's like Buffer Overflow or something like that", I've spent 5 minutes looking for his YT channel and I gave up, then I saw you wrote it in your post haha There is this guy also from NullBytes, the one that never blinks haha, Kody something, I liked him, I started learning with NullBytes videos RE: Do you have favorite or model hacker ? - Cooligan - Oct 27, 2024 It might sound sort of basic, but Edward Snowden would be my favorite of all time simply due to the balls he has for what he did. Without resorting to mainstream though, the hacker @onecool, one of the guys responsible for deciphering 50 pages of Cicada 3301 is severely underrated imo. There's also the oldschool hacker @Mudge from way back in the day who was one of the main leaders of The L0pht hacking group. Oh and not to mention Cult of the Dead Cow hacker group. https://cultdeadcow.com/ RE: Do you have favorite or model hacker ? - Game - Oct 27, 2024 One person who has always intrigued me as someone who I have also been friends with previously is MLT from Team Poison and TriCk who went and joined ISIS (crazy). |
